Sorry to hear that. Unfortunately it's not uncommon for anyone to get randomly murdered in this game.
All you can do is start over, maybe try to join a new group, and learn from that experience. Your character life is worth more than anything on you, so always do whatever you can to save yourself, not your stuff.

You have mostly to options now: learn to fight, so you can try to defend yourself with your new character, or spend most of your time safe behind a palisade and be ready to run away when meeting strangers. Even use an alt for trading or exploring, so you don't lose everything else you've got if things go wrong.

Wow this community is really something!
This poor guy is at his first game experience here (a game that btw gives you zero informations on how to play it, and with a wiki that is outdated as hell), and all you can do is bash him and tell him how dumb he was?

Then you complain about this game having few players. Not surprised if this is the welcome reserved to newbies. How about trying to teach him and giving some constructive criticism, instead of just laughing at him and calling him a retard?
