Tree Formula Discussion

Postby ewlol » Fri Jul 15, 2011 1:56 am

Hi everyone. DoG and I are working on a project to discover the actual formula for tree planting. We have been observing qualities of trees for a long time and have tried to craft a formula using the data we have collected from our tree growing. Unfortunately, our efforts have been fruitless.

We have decided to take our experiment to the public. We ask for this thread to be a discussion of trees and the planting formula.

To aid us in our research DoG has created a tool for everyone to input data. Please follow this link.

Treeplanting Data Sheet

Thank you!

Just a reminder: I won't be sharing access to the spreadsheet (freely) and it's not tagged at all so feel free to share data, it's simply for finding out the formula. Also would enjoy if people didn't troll it, since I do plan on sharing the formula after :V

If you feel any other information should be added let me know and I'll add a section for it, but I think I caught everything there.

I think the formula on the wiki is somewhat accurate, and definitely the -2, +5 part. One round of trees I did, the lowest was 63 and the highest was 70. I can't recall the qualities of the other stuff though.

Pretty sure formula is still:
((((PotQL+(SoilQl)+WaterQl+(SeedQL))/4)*3)+TableQl)/4

So with a q90 tree pot and q80 soil, q80 water, q100 trees and q150 tables, wouldn't the end result be around 101-108, assuming you had enough farming?

Unless you found new info that would make this all incorrect?

EDIT: well, I guess soil messes it up a bit now :(
so, yeah this formula probably doesn't work anymore.. unless you have high enough soil?

The spreadsheet list, I could leave it on view, but I'm not giving everyone edit permissions. If someone else wants it they can PM me (view permissions) since it's all anonymous.

Gato, pretty sure that's not the formula, that's the one I had worked out in W3, and I had some discrepancies with it, although they could be from the still undetermined -/+ at the end

Pretty sure the soil it's planted on is of no importance, but I can't say it's actually been tested.

Kudos to you for the portal reference.
I think it's made of bubbles and hate.
