WHy you won't see teleportation removed soon

Because creating a system that can sustain trade at the rate we currently conduct it (and even moreso possibly) involves mobile claimage (For nomadic trading caravan) which is dependant on village management. The current project is entirely unrelated to this except that it will be part of creating more trade demand. They've expressed a desire to work on magen next (or close to next anyway) and since that will probably involve implementing lovalized resources then teleportation will become even more critical to playing the game until such time as caravanage is made possible.

Hope that neat bit of logic there dispells some of the stupid, unfounded rumors some dipshit nubs have been trying desperately to spread. :lol:

Yes your logic makes sense.

Hoping for more realism is what spreads these rumors, along with Ox Carts being pulled by bulls being implemented, and talks of terrain changes which allow fording rivers, and even building bridges, and horses too. Yes some are just talk but you can see wherein the rumors start.

if HaH would have realism then we could put only 1 chest inside boat and chests would have about half of its current space, not to mention that stuff would take even more space, and thats just 1 of examples D:| so, screw realism, i want fun game to play :3

I actually like the teleporting and extra space, I just got caught up in rumors as well as other noobs. But I don't think I want to see flying dragons and the Lockness Monster either.

So some form or degree of realism is always hoped for by some people.

well see, if they remove teleportation, and localize resouces, actually buying a lot of one resouce in bulk, to move it to another place for inflated prices (like the silk road) would make more sense, because the transportation of goods in itself becomes a job. therefore a resource would be more expensive the further you are from the area where that resource can be found, which would be interesting.

Also caravanage is pretty possible, and (personal) claims are pretty easily moved.
it is natural that you would have less security while travelling, but you are also less easily found. this represents another interesting gameplay aspect, should we take the road, where we may be assaulted by highwaymen, or should we go t hrough the forest, and possibly get lost. : P

At the moment, there are no such things as roads with villages along the way that profit from the frequent caravans, only hotspots of civilization near the bigger cities.

Removeing teleportation would
1: make some resources harder to get dependant on area
2: create a more varied and interesting world.
3: own pretty fucking hard
4: make gates useful again
5: be less goofy
6: make trading more profitable, if done right.

I have to ask; What is so hard about nomadic claims currently? Sure you can't put an entire village up for it, but you can have the wagon master make a standard claim, and stay a couple miles outside villages so they can't sneak up on you.

Having a couple rangers to retaliate for just a few of the caravans would make a nice deterrent against crimes for all of them. Perhaps an archer riding shotgun can keep people away from looting a moving wagon.

My understanding is that roads need to zigzag a bit for the wagons to keep clear of the signposts, but easy enough. If there was demand, I'm sure people would be happy to take the task of building great roads just for the accomplishment.

River crossings are a bit of a hassle, but devoting space in a single wagon to a raft makes it easy enough. Villages in condition for extended trade can easily set up trading posts in a road accessible area.

Extended trade would then probably focus more on large specialized orders and professional merchants than one guy hauling a box and taking lots of smoke breaks, but I don't see a real problem with that.

we are definately getting easier roads, and hopefully bridges.
