And it seems world 3 is dying, we have world 2 sodom now named A.D., major towns are ghost towns now, and the game isnt being updated a lot anymore.
Can someone fill me in on what happened.

Some people are just waiting for the big updates. J&L are working hard (or hardly working) to remake a few things and maybe add one or two. Something about the village system I think, LPs as well? Don't trust me, I'm not a good source.
I'm pretty sure the big towns aren't ghost towns, just that they might be less active than they used to be.

You both seem to be confusing quite a few things here.
Sodom has not existed in world 2, it was founded in world 3 and is still pretty much alive. The players running it have changed a little, but the town itself is prospering and successful as always.
Also the devs are working on a new lp system. The town management has been asked for quite some times, but so far there are no indicators poiting at a new development in this department. Besides a new mapgen would hopefully have a much higher priority, although town management of course could use some major changes.

with 200-300 people online most of the time i'd hardly say world 3 was dying
