Creatures, mythological or otherwise.

So originally, this thread was about your favorite creatures, mythological or otherwise. It still is of coarse, but in researching my favorite I found this on the wikipedia.

wikipedia wrote:Eastern Slavic mythology includes stories of a powerful dark wizard or a demon, Koschei the Deathless, who evades death by having his fiery soul placed in the eye of a magical needle. The needle is inside an egg, which is inside a duck, which is inside a hare, which is locked in an iron chest placed at the roots of a great oak tree, which is in a hole in the ground on the magical island of Buyan. Koschei can be killed only by breaking the magical needle, which is much like the phylactery of a lich. This image is consistent with the modern interpretation of the lich.

I know that wikipedia isn't very reliable, but seeing "Buyan" caught my eye, so I also want to ask, does the in game name of bottleneck come from this bit of mythology?

Obviously my Favorite creature is the Lich, prolly not the original lich from old stories (the word lich is simply an archaic word for corpse) but the powerful undead being that can throw down buildings. not strong physically, but it doesn't matter when youve got that much magic on your side.

not a creature, but a profession. still though, necromancers have commerce with many different demons and spirits. its a part of what they do. I like playing necromancers in role-playing games.

Lich are pretty cool, I'd rather see dragons or other cool things, even wolves. I had read a little about that attics before kinda interesting stuff

My favorite animal is the narwhal. When I get around to making a custom mod, I'm going to replace the boat sprite with them so it looks like you're riding a narwhal down the river.

Get horses that won't kill everyone.

Replace image or whatever with that of a unicorn.

Success!

Mörksuggan, from Dalarna, Sweden (otherwise famous for the Dalecarlian horse).

I don't know if it actually does anything, I just like it. Wikipedia carries almost no information on it; only that "it was used to scare children, among other things".
I *think* that it might be something like a tomte, but I'm not sure.
I saw it translated as the Dark Sow once.

Yeah. Not just that specific story, though, Buyan features in a number of myths.

Very interesting. I'll have to look up more on it then. myths and legends are interesting to read and hear.

Im also quite fond of the old fashioned bridge troll. not that new fangled kind that sits around in his suit and tie and bothers people on the internets.
