Tree plots, paved or unpaved?

Postby sir0die » Tue Nov 23, 2010 10:11 pm

Ok, so there appears to be a debate on whether paving around your trees is hurtful or not.

So i decided to document the difference between paving and not paving.

i started with a chunk of soil that was forest.

i then created 2 plots, one without pavement near the tree spot and one paved all except where the tree will be planted.

Image

then using the same quality pots, seeds, water and soil, breed 2 trees.

I then tested the table by putting in a Q115 tea leaf and got out Q106 gree tea leaf

using formulas from the wiki. i determined that this table is Q97.

now lets calculate what the Q of the planted tree SHOULD be according to the wiki formula:

"Quality for planted trees depends on the Pot Q, Soil Q, Water Q, and your Farming skill

((Soil+Soil+Soil+Soil/4)+Pot+Water+Seed+table)/5=Tree Q"

so ((58+58+58+58/4)+68+56+54+97)/5=66.6

so these trees have the potential to be either a 66 or 67 tree, depending on how the game rounds out numbers.

I planted them both at 14:45 CST time zone on tuesday, 11/23/2010.

now we sit back and see how they grow.

I can tell you right now pavement doesn't affect it.

a man need only strike another to make him evil."

yeah i dunno who's debating this topic but anyone that says anything different is completely wrong

edit: interested to see the final q of those trees though, i think that formula is wrong.

you cant blame a guy for experimenting a bit. personally im waiting to see the results, though I do believe you when you say that pavement doesn't matter.

Partially of incorrect. Decay is affected by pavement, so it seems that the final stage of trees lasts must longer on paved plots.

Pavement doesnt affect the resulting Q.

I've planted both in my Pavement square as well as on open forest (to keep it forest tile as I have not had to time to paved that area yet. All my trees have turned out within 2-3 Q of each other. But I have noticed that the bunch I planted in all forest tiles grew faster than those I placed on my "plantation square".
