Scary Experience

Postby Fiction_Stick » Sun Jan 16, 2011 6:12 am

So a day ago I was out adventuring in my boat when I found a little village, there was no one there at the time though. Then me being the idiot I am I teleported home and left my boat there on accident. So today I made a new boat and decided to go retrieve my boat from the village.

I walk along the newly built palisade until I spot a guy wearing a boar helm baking food at a oven. I cheerfully ask him how he doing and that I was looking for my boat I left here yesterday. I get no response...

Then I ask him if he doesn't speak English or if he is just ignoring me. About 2 minutes later he finally spells out "ignor".

So I start walking into there settlement to give them a word of my mind when another member of there village walks out of the woods and asked in poor English "wut is goin on here".

So just to clarify these guys are in a pretty well built village with good gear and I have no idea whether they are able to kill me or not.
Then all of a sudden they start yelling at each other in what I'm guessing is Russian. At this moment I decide to high tale it out of there to avoid being man handled by my not so friendly Russian Neighbors.

Just thought I would share my experience... I'm still shaking from it.

This right here is what makes the game great. After the fight at BHB my adrenaline was still rushing an hour later, same is true to some degree for the last battle at Nople (although it didn't even really matter anymore).

If I was ever part of I giant battle or some kind of attack I would probably piss myself. Just having Russian yelled at me is enough to get my blood pumping XD

Busting into a silver mine and camping outside of BHB waiting for some action (even though I didn't get to take part in any of it) were both really thrilling. I was shaking in anticipation during both experiences, really a crazy feeling that makes me love PvP in this game. Anticipation for killing another player (even if its going to be an easy kill) always got me shaking aswell.

One of the Nople bads was pretty crazy too. AD was all Einhera'd up and so there wasn't much we could do. Tried to save ewlol but always, the void of lag consumed him and he disconnected. Running away through the claims, swimming the river, and then sprinting (thank god for my 3 buckets of q80 water) to get out of combat and save my character was surprisingly not very exciting.

The risk of losing something you've worked countless hours on really makes you think before you act and also fear the lose of the character; it makes the PvP exciting and something that is tried to be avoided when possible.

You should try Darkfall, every fight is adrenaline.

Theres a bear right outside my house right now, like, right on top of my front door> I logged on and went out to start tanning some rabbit furs, and there it was sat on my pavement looking at the same tanning tubs I want to use.

Some guy got in my boat earlier when I was fishing in the shallows and said "hue hue hue hue" no idea what that was about. Not really a scary experience, but more like "wtf"

Only been playing this game a few days, but most people I've met are really nice (2 out of 3 lol)

Pah! You want to know fear?

You're in a village with your friends, only been playing a couple of days, still havn't got a wall up (for some reason).

Suddenly, bear-caped spectacle-wearing archers and swordshearthlings come charging into the village, firing and slashing.

People die. You run. One of the swordshearthlings come chasing after you, locking onto you with a missed shot. You take a shortcut through someone's double-gated fenced land. As you go through the gate, you spend a moment shutting the gate behind you, and charge head-first into the forest. The murderer is still chasing you, and your stamina is running low.

You suddenly drop a speed. He's catching up. You've nearly reached the dock. He hits you, misses, you get on the boat and sail to safety.

This was my scariest experience. All my friends, except a couple, were dead. My heart was literally pounding like a drum.

Good times. Whilst I was pissed at losing all that work, at least I still had my head - and that makes a good game, that I can get that rush from it.
