Computer specs.

Postby kamirov » Sat Feb 26, 2011 1:14 am

Hi,

I'm looking for a suitable Laptop/Netbook to play Haven and Hearth. I'm also wondering the current specs of peoples PC's and the performance of Haven an Hearth. If you could also go as far as ti say what client you use, that would help too.

Here is my current for my desktop:

CPU: intel i7 960 - Clocked at 3.4GHz
GPU: Nividia 480
RAM 6GB - Dominator
Client: Gilbertus
OS: Windows 7 - 64bit/Ubuntu Linux 9.10

Performance raising: Great, I can run multiple instances of the game and they run steady.

Your help is much appreciated.

Never use a netbook for HnH if you plan on hunting or doing some PvP. As for specs I really wouldn't know much in that area. You don't really need a brand new PC or laptop to run this game. My PC is about 10 years old and runs Gilbertus just fine, haven't crashed with it yet. :)

If you play on linux, even a netbook can run HnH.

I will post my father's computer since it's the worst computer I tried to play HnH on.

Windows 7 : Doesn't load
Linux(Ubuntu) : Works flawless, can triple box

Pentium4 3 GHz
1 GB DDR2 RAM
Generic ~5 year old integrated intel shit graphics

It's not about that hardware, it's about the drivers and whether or not they like OpenGL. Linux guarentees OpenGL support, but if you plan on using windows you will most likely have to look for specialized drivers that usually don't exist.

My advice: Get a laptop/netbook of the resolution you want and install Linux on it.

CPU: core 2 duo e6420 @ 2.14 GHz
GPU: ATI Radeon HD 5770 1GB GDDR5
RAM: 2GB(2x1) G-Skill 800 MHz DDR2
Display: 22'' LCD monitor @ 1920 x 1080
Client: Ender's client
HDD: 500 GB Sata 3.0 GB/s
OS: Windows 7 32-bit
Performance: Great, running multiple clients on same screen side by side with no lag.

I suggest getting at least a quad-core cpu on the laptop, with 4gb ram and at least a 512 mb Gpu.
