Hello world

Postby Jolicoeur » Fri Mar 04, 2011 11:43 am

Hey guys, just wanted to say hello. I've never even heard of this game until two days ago and I just got around to making an account. I've started in a pine forest and most of my time is spent making wicker baskets, so if you come across a friendly fellow in the middle of a sea of storage, you know who it is.

better spent your time usefull instead of grinding baskets.find a good spot to live, build a house, a well.start a farm and a claim, build a palisade etc...

actually playing the game, creating stuff is more fun than grinding and you earn LP with it too....

If I found you near my hermitage grinding baskets/buckets or whatever I would tell you friendly to fuck off first and if you stay I would wreck your shit and punch you ;)

Direct. I admire that. I spend my time how I can. One does not simply come into this world with the ability to create houses and farms, as I've found out. You need to work to get there, and I chose a method that is the least destructive of my surroundings, something of which you should be able to understand. I would say I digress but you didn't really say anything constructive.

if you're looking for a non destructive macro, find a boulder and chip and lay stone on the same tile
just keep spamming that until you're comfortable to play :3

If there's one thing I don't approve of, it's the use of macros and bots to play a game. There is no satisfaction or sense of accomplishment in that.

Welcome to Haven and Hearth, it's a pleasure to make your acquaintance. That said, no one is going to find you or know where you are in game with that description. The world is vast, travel is long, and most people travel by river networks rather than by land. A good, safe home is as valuable as all the lp in the world, so explore around, secure food, and make your place. It's usually a good idea to decide what you want to do with your time in HnH -- not everyone wants to join a village or be a nomadic farmer/miner/hunter/forager but these are valid options. In many cases, without a creative and constructive goal, people become bored with sandbox games like this =)

And here is the first friendly reply I have received. A pleasure to know you, TeckXKnight. Your timing couldn't have been any better. I was just now looking for a nice place along the river to settle down at. What a mistake that would have been. What would you suggest as an ideal location for food, water, and other materials one would need to keep oneself busy?

live in a forest near a mudflat, a river, and some grasland/heath/moor( check wiki for description of terrain types).but don't live directly next to it!
Resources and rivers means a lot of traffic.traffic means possible raiders/griefers.

a coniferous forest would be best for newbie food like apple but they are pretty rare
