Seriously though. I've spent 2 weeks exploring and hunting, and have yet to find my first bear.
I spent 14 hours online yesterday, explored about 3 supergrids thouroughly, specifically looking for a bear, but, no such thing seems to exist.
Really, can you up their spawn rate just a bit?

Its only a bit ironic that I encountered two bears on my way back to our village with my new char...
One when I retrieved my stuff, and another near our village.

Perhaps you have just been extremely unlucky?

try to scout in further areas with less settlements
not finding bears usually means at least 5 hunters around

That's not the case, Grog. My own area isn't very crowded, and besides that I've spent the past 2 weeks looking for bears, in less, to unpopulated areas as well. I think I've seen all supergrids along the south edge of the world now, but no bears.

I guess it's just bad luck. But really, since they can no longer be farmed for LP anyways, uping the spawn rate a bit wouldn't hurt, right?

My camp kills from 4-6 bears a day some days, nothing wrong with their spawn rate. had a similar issue to yours with Mouflon though. You are suffering, I think, from observational bias.

Try and hunt during day, especially around dawn I saw 2 bears with in 10 minutes of boating of each other. I know I often boat around during night (just how my schedule turns out) and I see almost no animals.
