Advice for a newb

Postby galopagogo » Sat Apr 23, 2011 6:53 am

Just started today. Basically been wandering aimlessly picking up random stuff, crafting and building the few items I can and learning new skills. Only found one Village so far and It looked really scary (Stormvermin or something) so I didn't stick around. Any particular direction I should head or anything I should do?

Now I'm also taking 3 damage periodically. This is immediately after going through my first swamp and discovering a hearth fire. Not sure if either of these are responsible for my illness or whatever is causing the damage. How can I heal/stop taking damage?

You have contracted a disease. Luckily this one wasn't very hurtful, since it's only 3 damage. You have to eat until you're 100% overstuffed to cure it, but food that don't give FEP points don't work (like apples). In case it doesn't go away, you may need to buy the swimming skill and swim for 30 seconds or so in the water, that heals you.

A general tip as a newbie is (in response to your first post), don't trust anyone.

quit giving noobs random garbage like this

you have leeches on your character, eventually they will stop biting or you can just pull them off on the character equipment screen

Okay, the first lp you have, use to get the basic skills, hunting, plant lore etc, then put as much as you can into exploration, because the more exploration you have, the more you can find, and the more lp you will gain.

Head for a river, there are always abandoned boats, get in one... (right click select avast) and look around...
(ps control click to get out of it... no one tells you this)

Treat your very first char as more or less disposable, you would be very lucky to keep it for long.

Look at everything, explore everywhere, talk to people, most... are nice and will help..

And good luck, this is the most fun you can have in your room on your own.. believe me
Can anybody fly this thing?

I seem to have exhausted all means of earning LP until I run across some new items. I've cut down trees and harvested everything I can from them, chipped stone, etc and built everything I can which isnt much. Any ideas? Stuck in a forest that never seems to end.
