I have and always will be against key alts-- they're for the paranoid and the dumb. its okay to keep keys on an alt but if you don't have keys on your main you're a massive faggot and i spit in your general direction.

better to have an alt locked inside than running around with the key like that. Or get the mats to make a backup key and store that on an alt just so you don't lose all your keys.

Sadly, I'm still rather new, I haven't gotten the hang of EVERYTHING in the game :/
oh well, starting over is no biggie, it gets easier every time. trial and error, i think next time i'll have a hunting alt. so my main doesn't get killed.

the primary reason for a key alt, is so people like this guy doesn't get to rob your farm after they gang rape you in the woods

That is a bit extreme. The only reason you should be cautious about dying while hunting is the Auroch or Mouflon attack in herds. It used to be that when you were knocked unconscious by one, when the others would reach your body they didn't make an attack against you but instead left combat. Now they have it where if one knocks you down, the others will make an attack against you, thus killing you.

If any other animal knocked you unconscious they will not make another attack against you, so you are safe to do "trial and error" hunting as you said.
