What's Up With Boars?

So I've come back to this game because of the new world and such and I came across a boar out in the middle of the forest. I tried to run, it caught up to me, and knocked me over in one shot. Then it missed a couple attacks, and then hit me for 115 HHP. . . Are they supposed to be able to do that now? The boar wasn't even level 9 or 10. I remember in the last world, a boar would chase me down, knock me over, then do a little bit of damage and break my shoes, that's all. . . This happen to anyone else and is this supposed to be how it is?

Yeah a boar blew through my noob defense bar and 118shp and 118 hhp in 2 hits... basically a one hit kill. :(
