hey tea drinkers!

Postby saltmummy626 » Tue Jun 28, 2011 10:55 am

I got this tea shop in my town, I get some pretty good stuff, mostly green, but I got a black today. called "russian caravan tea." it smells and tastes kinda like beef jerky and leaves a prickly feeling in the back of a persons throat. normally I drink this stuff called high mountain green, which has a buttery taste and smell, and another called gunpowder green which is pretty bitter. anyways, im not that new to tea, but there's a lot to choose from. anybody got any suggestions for something good to try? feel free to share your favorites too, cuz you know... who else am I gonna discuss this stuff with? my family? not likely. maybe my ma, but I already know her preference.

And what about non-paper teabags? I've heard those leave no paper aftertaste.. probably made of some heat-resistant polymers i dunno...

I'll check out the name of what i drink when i'll be back home.(i'm also at vacation now ;) )

Red clover blossoms are nice. You could also probably make tea from stinging nettles.

some time ago, Loftar asked me to recommend a good tea shop in Japan on IRC and i did.
a week later, TV news reported that some radiation(caesium) was found from the tea grown in the close-by area...
the local government had said that they checked all tea fields very strictly and it was a big lie >.> they are saying only the ones discovered (one from a certain company and one exported for France) were polluted, but i cant trust them now.
i still believe the tea maker(chashi) i had recommended is the best, but hey, he cannot of course deal with Fukushima or which way wind should blow, however good tea he makes.
oh well, sorry loftar

so i cannot recommend any for the time-being. how am i to know which tea from which area is safe now?

And what about non-paper teabags?

Fancy schmancy silk teabags, anyone?

Cultural differences with tea amuse me. In the UK it seems somewhat ... non-masculine ... to drink anything other than normal tea, e.g. Earl Grey is a bit la di da, and anyone drinking something made with stuff that is not actual tea leaves is probably one of them homosexual types, whereas the most macho Polish guys I worked with will happily talk about teas made of hibiscus and raspberry leaves and all sorts of other things that make bright pink floral drinks, and complain about British people only having milk and sugar instead of lemon and honey with their tea.

Yeah, it looks like silk really. :)
So it is not polymer fibers.) Well, thats even better, cuz none can tell by the look whatever porymer is heat-resistant.

you should see australia. if you dont drink tea your not a true australian. this is a view i hold dear.. although we hold the same with the whole earl grey is just fancy. its just bushells/lipton/tetly and thats it/w/milk and sugar.
though if we go camping we try all sortsa stuff, i for one have made gum leaf tee + eucalyptus tea + cranberry tea.. any plant that smell nice really...

lemon and honey
euggh only when ive got a sore throat thanks

Been drinking a lot of superfruit green tea lately, but still go for chun mee when I need something more tea-flavored.
