Barren World?

My friend and I started this game yesterday, and have seen signs of life, but there is nothing but trees and dirt. My friend saw ONE fox, that's all. Well, plus all the frogs in the marshes. Right now the homepage says there are about 570 hearthlings online. Where are they all?

The world map is quite large. I doubt you've even seen 1% of the world in your one day of playing. The people are about, you just gotta look far and wide.

I don't think quite large covers it, I'd go with immense myself. I've played World 5 since day 1 and have maybe seen 20-25% of it.

Every alt I've spawned this world and every previous world except 1, have always spawned in central grids.
