Postby EvilDragon » Fri Aug 05, 2011 8:56 pm

for Koreans, Some of We sometime say "Oh my, how pretty dangerous! I'll be died by them. It's better to leave from here." when seeing Russian, espcially Cyrillic. because they often died when seeing Russian.
(but not all. just some of Koreans)

but for you, as non-korean, What do you feel when seeing Korean?
also including Japanese, Russian(if you are not Russian), etc.
also seeing other languages.

Ahhh...

Ok.

If I see someone with sword, or speaking foreign language (foreign to me) no matter nationality, I run.

I've heard of prejudiced groups from practically every language in the game. The legends are always based on language.

"Those guys kill anyone who doesn't speak <language>."

When I see Korean I get out my notes so I can type 안녕하세요 so hopefully they won't kill me. XD

lol; my computer doesn't recognise hangul, and it just makes boxes whenever a Korean speaks.

I just think "Moonspeak, ok." when I get a response not in Cyrillic or Latin script.

Depends on the situation and the numbers. Language is irrelevant; what I'm really concerned about is escape route and numbers. Can I safely lose you -- do I know this terrain well enough that if things go awry I'll be okay? Do I feel comfortable that if you attacked me 1v1 that I'd win? What about 2v1? What about 3v1?

English, German, Russian, Korean, Japanese, or whatever else doesn't determine who might be a raider. If I don't feel like the odds are in my favor (maybe there were 6 of you and I was out in the middle of nowhere) then I'm not going to stay and talk.

This has saved my life more times than I can count. Though there was one time I was stupid and sat there taming while 5 people rolled up in boats and started to watch me. I was damn sure that I was about to get jumped but I was NOT willing to let go of my cows and so I sat there with a sword out ready to fight a 5v1 if I needed to. Luckily they were actually nice folks and had just come back from tracking some theft scents -- they were just really interested in meet their neighbors.

I feel safe actually.

There's a Korean guy living a ways up the river from me and our setups are very similar, he's the man, good neighbour to have in a game like this, I don't think he speaks english and I sure as hell don't speak Korean but he hasn't slaughtered me and burnt my farm to the ground yet so I think we're doing ok.

Somebody nicked his gift baskets though, that's pretty low.

well, since i havent heard of a active Korean community being agressive, and all koreans ( in every single game) have been nice players or not that asshole(just some trolling), i would try to stay and chat, about russians id either warp( based on their number and visual gear) unless they seem friendly, i once saw this guy who took all his gear off just to talk, it depends.

stereotyping is never a way to go.

its rather funny, but basically every non-japanese is a "gaijin"(foreigner) to some japanese.
there was this post on one thread, asking "where can i find a place to live without foreigners?"
as you can probably agree that labeling all non-japanese as agressive is silly, so is labeling one language group.
(as a matter of fact, there are agressive japanese players in this game too.)
"foreigners" or "koreans" or "russians", we all know it really does not matter.

on topic, ive met many different kinds of korean players. id simply say "anyohaseyo" and try talking in english.
