My rage is TANGIBLE, seriously. Listen to them both, and note the tune of both of them.

God, I hate MCR.

Also, I think we need an off-topic board. :3

What's MCR?

Military Central Research?
Management (of) Commercial Rights?
Mexican Copper Recycling?

Men's Comical Romance?
More Contraceptive Resources?
You see a masterful engraving by Blaze. On it is Blaze, bears, boars, and foxes. Blaze is striking down the bears. The boars are screaming. The foxes are in a fetal position. The image relates to the return of Blaze in the late winter of 2009.

Listen to the tune of the music, My Chemical Romance took plenty of it off Free Bird by Lynyrd Skynyrd. >:

Regardless of whether you're right or not, it's obviously not the same song, so I am curious as to what you present as the morally right way of doing it. Obviously (seeing how you do not make the same complaint of Lynyrd Skynyrd), you do not think that every new song that is made ought to be constructed in a complete cultural vacuum, so which elements are morally right to reuse?

oh ill just make my own mmo game, oh hey guess what ill just take these graphics from this wonderful game called HH. that will do nicely.

i wouldnt expect anything less than MCR.
so many bands these days arent even ripping off but completely covering obscure old 60's-70's tracks that no one remembers and getting away with it being known as their "awesome" song.

They sound nothing alike. Furthermore, MCR sucks while Lynyrd Skynyrd is awesome.

I've actually had a few people who I think of as much more expert at any kind of musical knowledge than me agree with me that the tune in parts is exactly the same. So, yeah.

And, no, Loftar, but I'd count this as plagiarism, same as if I copy and pasted passages from a book into a bestselling one of my own invention ( for the most part, anyway ).

"No" what? I cannot remember asking a boolean question. :)

Honestly, though, it's not like they're copies in any meaningful way. If that would count as plagiarism, then William Shakespeare should also not have been allowed to publish Romeo and Juliet. Your suggestions scare me a bit; they remind me of the writers' guild's attempts to patent general themes and storylines.

While outright copying is one thing (which I couldn't really detect in the musical comparisons), it would be horrible if people couldn't at least draw inspiration from Haven in various ways and reuse its themes. For sure, we couldn't have made Haven if that weren't possible.
