A question to the people who quit due to game problems

Postby jordancoles » Tue Nov 15, 2011 3:15 am

Anyone who has played HnH for any period of time knows that it has some flaws, the lag, things like the fuel glitches etc. But I always hear on the forums that the veteran players have quit because of something along the lines of "game problems" or "bugs". Charter stones and chairs have been fixed and I saw those as major problems in game. So what are some of the other glitches that people dislike? (Minus lag because there's nothing that can really be done about it without a large donation).

Most veterans quit because it's largely the same game they've been playing for the last 3 years. Especially in this recent period of no updates or developer presence at all, it begins to get stale. Add that to the still broken "vault/siege" system, most people lose interest in the game after a while.

It's not bugs per see it's basically a result of no dev intervention of any kind. World 5 was plagued with game breaking wall jumping and the fixes were few and far between. The game as a whole is flawed due to side effects of good changes that rippled. take for example curio system it's a great system much better than the old botting grindy shit yet it encourages alts to the max, the old nerfs on single strong chars that were good in a time when every char had to be brought up by hard work are now discouraging investment on anything but hordes of alts, the curio system also makes viable in conjunction with teleportation chars that are completely split from their centers of production basically leaving you absolutely no way to connect them to where it hurts them aka their real town. And vaults as we know them are stupid shit but it's how the game demands to be played right not so we're left with alts and vaults and no way to counter them.

I'm aware that the system is flawed, (rams are easily broken with a large drying time for example) but how could they be fixed? If it's made easier to raid it makes life hard for more casual players/full time irl working people and whatnot.

Tons of discussion has been given on the subject but honestly it's useless to even bother with right now as the game isn't currently being developed.

Yeah, I was just wondering if I'd missed something that veterans were seeing

I think setting up something for donations if a good idea. Let us have a bar of "where we want to be" and "where we are" so we can see the progress.

Although said idea is stale because so many noobs who think they can throw money at any problem and it'll be fixed come across like "i give you muniez, nao make me epik". In all honestly those idiots don't know the definition of "donation".

Vaults are completely and utterly unassailable, so a retarded monkey can get away with murder. This means there's no need for people to band into proper factions which in turn means there's no real politics in the game, so it's just a shitty gankfest.

The donation goal is to give Jorb and Loftar enough money so they don't have to do commercial projects to make a living. Anyone want to pony up 30-40k a year to cover this? (Based on US income guidelines and average game dev salaries. It could be more or less in Sweden.) Let's say there's a thousand active players here. That's only 30 or 40 each. Certainly a lot less than I spend on sub MMOs a year.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.
