Global Chat

Postby hungrycookpot » Sat Jan 21, 2012 6:32 am

I just wanted to add my 2 cents; I liked global chat. It was cool to be able to switch it on and connect with someone else ingame, and then switch it off when it became boring or spammed. I understand there were technical issues with it, but I feel like a simple limit on message submit rate would have solved spamming, and ctrl c solved everything else. For the people who hated it and didn't want to deal with it, you never had to see it.

I know it isn't coming back, and my opinion definately doesn't matter, but there it is all the same.

Thanks for the entirely pointless, as even admitted by you, post.

Global chat was fine, if people liked to go there let them go there, unless its actually hurting the game, why remove it?

And thank you for pointing that out, you've done a great service here today. Btw, using quote tags lets you actually quote someone's post.

I think people are misinterpreting the reasons why global chat was shut off. Technical difficulties one could have worked out. The devs simply don't want global communication to be in game for similar reasons that one cannot identify people by their names anymore since w2 without them allowing it.

I don't require forum lessons, least of all from some idiot who makes pointless posts and admits IN the post that it's pointless. Also? @blowme.

I can appreciate that, I guess I just see it from a different perspective. I found that I rarely met anyone ingame that I talked to on global, barely influenced my gameplay. To me it was just a fun diversion when playing alone, so I'll miss it.

there was a lot of trolling going on that was possibly and probably harmful to some newer players that found global. like when someone pretended to be jorb and a load of people believed them, until jorb made an announcement thingy about it, that was fun, but nonetheless... bad trolling
Oh boy, here I go cheesemaking again...
