My First Boar!

I just killed my first boar!

I managed to do so with a sling of quality 7, 20 marksmanship and a bunch of stones.

When'd you think I could start hunting bears, with positive results?

And, when should I start using my bow? I found a bow and a quiver, with some arrows, but got told the accuracy is shit compared to a sling.

Congratulations on your first successful hunt, that's quite a milestone! With your current Marksmanship you would be able to take a bear, it just requires patience

I would suggest waiting some time for a Wooden Bow perhaps 100 MM and Q50+ bow, which should be easy enough to make/buy by the time you have that marksmanship.

For many hq slings are more apropriate due to having inventory space available for everything else while you hunt (foraged goods). With bow + quiver you lack space for preety much anything else while you need water+flask in inventory at all times.

I advise you to raise mm up, try to buy some good sling for cheap (i can sell you one for 1 bear, you just need village idol or pm me your coords), and you are good to go, then all depends from your mm+perception.

From boat you can easilly hunt them as well for now.
As long as you won't come up with an idea to chase them if they run (afaik they don't due to a bug, they were supposed to run away when not being able to reach the opponent instead of their unique ability to go berserk)

I got the sling from a friend, so I just used what I had.

Also, I currently don't have Law Speaking nor a dead bear lying around. I live in a small house alone, so it takes me a bit time to gather stuff and build things. I'll keep it in mind, though!

You can start using a bow at about 50-60 MM, at least that's according to my patience, most people absolutely hate waiting for their accuracy to go up, but it's still possible with 60 MM to use a bow. Contrary to the popular 100..

Then again, you'll need a quality bow, and do try to get a higher quality sling on your own, i'd suggest using the boar hide to make leather and get at least some decent string to make a higher quality sling

(plus you'll need higher quality arrows than the bow)

I killed bears with 20 melee and a q16 soldier sword.

Or 20 marksmanship and a shitty sling. But with a sling it takes a LONG time.
