Knocked unconscious by a surprise boar, it walked off. Then lag teleported it back just as I was coming around, that time it decided to keep attacking after I was knocked out. :'(

The boar would've killed you, lag or not. It just appeared like the boar was walking away because of the lag.

If there wasn't lag, he would've just turned around and gored you immediately.

Also, get ender's client so you can see monster radius so you can easily avoid them

Usually clients will help with radius, I recommend Ender if you want to avoid surprise bears/boars.

lag saved me! Some douche with muderous intent took my boat while I played with a fox, then tried to chase me down. Either s/he was not very good at being a murderous douche or lag spoiled their attempts.
