Collapse of EU??

Postby Mateusz_Zboj » Thu Jan 03, 2013 8:53 pm

After UK threatened that it would leave EU, some would count risks of EU collapsing.
Actually I wouldn't mind seeing Europe without that degree of socialism , but it is quite obvious 'collapse' means events will go too fast.
As far as I know USA isn't faring well too, so no stabilisation loans would come (after the countries would possibly change their policies).
If I am correct the only bigger countries that are growing in power would be Russia(?) and China. Doesn't look like a colourful future for me...
So what do you say, how will Europe look in 10 years?

I think its a good thing. The EU was only a union in the sense that all of these European countries unified together to stand shoulder to shoulder while they sold themselves out to the Chinese.

China is like one of those title loan places. It took all of those countries to unify (hence the birth of the EU) to agree to pawn their title off to China. Now they can't make the payment. LOL too bad Europe. See what that feel-good socialism gets you? XD

The reason why these European countries unified was to create a currency that can compete in the international currency market, and the only way to do that nowadays is to be able to print funny money and pass it off to bond holders as if it was actually worth something. The only way to do THAT is to either tax the fuck out of you/producers/manufacturers/other various forms of wealth redistribution usually in the guise of feel-good romantic socialist endeavors [see Obamacare](doesn't last long once the economy starts going into the dumps... i.e. the USA) or to inflate away your currency [see Zimbabwe or Argentina].

Which is why Sweden and Germany, who have much bigger welfare, have done much worse in this crisis than Spain and Italy, amirite?

No.

Also is it so hard to fathom that there will be your winners and your losers (Spain and Italy obviously being the losers in this deal)?
Well in this case, your losers and your not as much losers.

Is it so hard to fathom that some countries have dragged the whole union down by being nothing but leeches?

No it isn't. But it is hard for me to agree with that assessment. I tend more to believe that the EU failed because that type of union is unsustainable unless you have a world reserve currency (see the dollar), which the Euro was struggling to become but never even came close.

I assume before too long, and if "Obama's" military campaigns aren't successful, either we will go back to gold as a reserve currency or the renminbi will assume its position as the new world reserve.
