I'm really bored and decided to do this on a whim. It is a very, very brief summary of my life in Haven, for people who are equally bored and have a lot of time on their hands.

Hi. I have no idea if anybody knows who I am, so I will preface this with a greeting. My forum name is Ninijutsu, my real name is Brian, and I have been playing Haven and Hearth on and off for years. It is my favorite game, by a margin so large it may be likened to the distance of my computer to my fridge (the next closest game) to the distance of Earth from the nearest reaches of Andromeda. Haven and Hearth is not just a pasttime to me. It helped me discover myself as a person. This game is very near and dear to me.
This post will be a streamline of consciousness as I recall my past experiences in Haven and Hearth, from my first character EVER in World 3, to my current (worthless) life.
It all began when my brother told me about the game. I don't know what he said to me but somehow I was convinced enough to log on and start a village with him and two of my close friends. It went swimmingly at first. I have no idea what I named my character at the time because it was a really really long time ago. Anyways, I started learning how to gather sticks, I learned that the simple act of doing absolutely anything would net me LP (dumbest system ever but I didn't know that at the time, <3 curios). I learned about the bare basics of the game, like how to run, how to catch a rabbit, and what the game is all about (not really). I wanted to make a log cabin, because the timber house took twice as long to build, and the log cabin seemed like it would take days to complete. My friends insisted upon a timber house, so we made one of both. It was an excellent life, we played for about a week and I learned how to fish, cook my fish, eat my fish, and all the various things you learn when you are just starting the game with absolutely no guidance other than a rusty wikipedia page.
I log on, day 6 or so of my life, and everything is trashed. All of my belongings that were in my cupboard, all the belongings of all of my friends, our fence, everything was completely destroyed. The only thing that was left remaining was my brother's homestead, which was upon a claim (the only person who even knew what a claim was). I was devastated, and I wanted to quit the game right there. But then, my future partner in crime, justice, and everything involving anything, approached me. A complete stranger to me at the time, he introduced himself as Paco. He was supposedly a friend of my brother, and he had a much more advanced settlement which he was willing to bring me to and allow me to live in. I was extremely grateful for the offer, and I accepted it without a second thought. It took me about 5 minutes by boat to get to his place, which was a couple houses and an unfinished palisade wall upon the greatest location ever. As far as the non-ender's minimap could see (ender's didn't exist (i think)), grassland everywhere. The location was beautiful, there were plentiful trees nearby for us to build it up from, and there was all the food I could eat (because starvation was a legitimate concern at the time). I settled down with all of my remaining belongings (a fishing rod and some brill), and I began to assist him in finishing up the palisade wall.
After finishing the wall and getting to know my new companion, I learned that my brother was offered a place at the village before, but got pissed off at the second inhabitant (blue) and his childish antics (he was 12 yrs old I think), which is what led him to creating a village with me. Nevertheless, I build my house upon this grand land and took my brother's place. Blue was an okay guy, though very immature, and lazy, and worthless... I realize now why my brother left. ANYWAY. We lived in close proximity (very very close proximity) to a small Polish village of peaceful farmers. They were nice people but we hardly communicated and didn't ever trade. They did however reveal to us the location of Mirniy, a village which was about a half hour boat ride away, from where we could acquire all the nice things we needed. On our first trip there, we were handed a free sling, and met a lady by the name of Kanshisha, who was extremely kind to us, and was willing to provide us almost anything we needed if we provided something in exchange. We foraged some seeds, started a carrot farm, and after I got some MM and ate some carrots, I picked up a sling and became the designated hunter.
Our grassland must have been bugged or something, because there was ALWAYS a herd of Mouflon or Aurochese grazing upon it. Over time we filled a log cabin full of cupboards full of cooked beef, so starvation was obviously not even a concept we understood the meaning of anymore. We made absurd quantities of leather, which we would later use to trade with Mirniy and Kanshisha for nuggets of metal (which was rare in world 3). We also used the leather to buy the materials required for the Village Idol. Right around the time we had raised the idol of New Ravengrad, my friend Vince, who was with me in my brother's settlement, decided to join us. This led to a number of rather unfortunate and strange events.
First, I bought my friend Vince a cylinder hat with a huge portion of the raw beef we had stored (somebody wanted to make a lot of cow chorizo). Paco started getting upset with me, arguing that I was always wasting our supplies on meaningless things, like more containers and the top hat, which was absolutely true. I also got upset at him for his hostility toward the aforementioned Polish village we lived near. He wanted to eradicate them, fearing that they were a threat to our expansion and liberty. He plotted to kill them, and when I revealed to the polish citizens his plans (they were very nice fellows and I couldn't let my friend do this to them, even though he was completely incapable of it, though I did not know that at the time), Paco got yet angrier. Eventually we stopped talking on Skype, and we were both very pissed off with each other.
One fateful day, he asks me to bandage him (I had first and and he did not). I take a very long time to complete the process - this perplexes him, and he asks me why it is taking so long. Well it takes a long time for someone with 30 marksman to build up a sufficient aim bar (I was saving LP for a long time to get Rage for this moment). I shoot him point-blank. He suffers IMMENSE damage (like 20 shp) and starts running in circles. As he is running in circles, he's trying to talk to me, asking me what my problem is and concluding that the best continuation to my action was to go off myself in real life. I hit him again during a very long typing session (he is dislexic so it was a cheap shot to wait for him to want to type a long message), he is about to die. He runs up to me and starts jump-punching my brains out. I don't even know how to jump punch, and had 1 unarmed combat, so I tried to run away. I log out and try to call him and make everything right again. I log back on and I am knocked out on the ground, about to die. He lets go and we have a long conversation and decide to be friends again.
The next day, as we were hunting for rabbits, I accidentally shoot him with my sling (I was meaning to finish him off but this shot was legitimately an accident), I miss because I had no bar, and he is now furious at me. I run into a building, he follows, and we sit there stuck inside of each other. We make up once and for all over Skype, we are all happy and apologetic and whatnot. My MM bar reaches full. I strike. He is dead.
Obviously we stopped talking for a bit after that. His friend Blue destroys the whole village. I manage to convince our trader buddy Kanshisha to allow me to live in her village for a while. She presents me with my first Merchant's robe, my first Bronze Sword, and my first timber house home. My adventures there were limited and boring, and I didn't live there very long, until me and a newly made friend discovered a nearby abandoned iron mine. It was an excellent mine indeed, we ram the gates to fortify it with our own gates, and we go to sleep preparing to mine the hell out of it for delicious iron for our village. I log on, my friend is dead, the gate is broken, and I quit the game in anger.
Eventually me and Paco start talking again. Everything is forgiven and we are friends again (for real this time). I gather 2 of my friends (different people) and we start a new life. We get a small settlement with a couple houses, a claim, and some pumpkins, and then we are raided by scary looking guys with big swords. We run away for the next 8 hours (real time) to the Promised Land (the newly added supergrids where people can't spawn on new characters at), carrying boats on our backs the majority of the way, suggesting that we probably only traveled 2 supergrids or so away. We settle down again, and I start experimenting with Numen points (at half change half trad). I get enough for a piece of bread, which I consider as my prized possession at the time. Paco brought his friend RedDot, and the two of them began pillaging the several nearby abandoned russian villages nearby. We are showered in wealth and nice things that we had never imagined before, such as bear capes, pies, and high quality slings.
One day, we are offered a position at Broholm. I have absolutely no recollection of how, but we did, and we decided to move there. In this place, we first experienced the life of a villager in a high-population, relatively powerful village of Bros. I am promised my own (tiny) plot of land with my own log cabin, and I am later geared with my own sword and crappy armor, which I never really used. I remember one of the people in our village was a full unarmed fighter. The rest of us literally laughed at him for not going into exclusively melee combat, because we were fucking idiots. Obviously he had the last laugh, but anyways. I did a lot of hunting and exploring, and learned a lot about the game in Broholm.
One day, Paco and his friend tried to build a brick wall around their plot, and were met with extreme hostility from our village leaders. We were unable to bash brick (possible in w3) or ram it, so they didn't want him to build a wall that the village could not break, else they were afraid he would simply steal from the village and hide out in his hole. The village was already suspecting him of stealing a great deal of small things, like herb tables and river mussels, which only raised tensions among them. One day, the village leaders invite him to a naked feast, as a symbol of friendship and respect. Well, as Paco gets naked and takes his seat, he is 1-shot by our most skilled marksman, and murdered. He calls his russian friend Redsmoke to attack our village in protest, but it never happened. I continued to play without him, until the village leaders stumbled upon a silver mine. It was supposedly abandoned, and we spent the next 24 hours securing it from invaders. Well, somebody got in anyway, murdered everyone there (half the village), took their keys, somehow found out where we live, came to our village, trashed our farms, and slept in our leader's bed. Everyone in the village pretty much quit, including myself.
I played a little bit of World 4 but I literally do not recall any of it, and none of it was with my friend Paco.
World 6 comes along. My friend Paco, who I now begin to call by his first name Ryan, got me to come play a new life with him a month into the new world. We settle upon a nice grassland in the middle supergrid, and we begin our journey. Three days in, we have a couple houses and are starting up our farm. http://sabinati.com/HavenMap/?x=20&y=-27.85&zoom=9
I decide to hunt a boar with my sling. Little did I know that boars were newly designed to break through signposts. I sling a stone at the boar, it comes barreling down onto me, and I die in a swift stroke of its jaws. After many alt deaths I give up on retrieving my supplies and make a new character. I was pretty pissed, but I was going to be a lot angrier next death. I start working up my Unarmed because I hear it's the coolest thing since cigarettes and sliced bread. I begin hunting with my fists on the side of the river and sustaining myself off ants.
Soon we find a friendly man and his girlfriend who live nearby, and we become buddies. We do a little bit of trading to help me and Paco get bear capes and whatnot. We don't do a whole lot together until later, which I will get to now.
I'm just minding my business, killing my first fox ever on the side of a river with 42 unarmed. I'm approached by a stranger in what appeared to be newbie clothing (didn't see his ranger's cape...). He says some sort of odd greeting to me, and I let him know that I would love to talk to him if he was willing to wait for me to finish killing this fox. Now, up to this point I have had almost no run-ins with any hostile strangers, so I had no idea what NaoWhut was about to do to me. I get distracted typing to him, and the fox starts to break through my defenses. NaoWhut realizes that I'm a complete idiot, and comes barreling down upon me with a huge shiny sword. He starts charging me or whatever, and I run away like a frightened child, not knowing what was going on, and realizing that my boat was propped up on land to prevent my escape by sea. He shoves his sword right through me for huge damage, and I lie on the ground unconscious. I log off, discovering 5 minutes of near-sobbing later that I am dead. http://puu.sh/2lK13
I'm totally pissed of course, and after making a new character at my previous hearthfire, I gather Paco and our two friends together and we begin hunting for this mysterious murderer. The girlfriend accidentally hearths in the middle of the expedition. Very unfortunate indeed, however we continue to trek along, not realizing how unbelievably lucky she is. We reach Gomorrah, which we don't even know about at the time. We figure that the murderer lives somewhere on the other side of the river (the other half of Gomorrah), and as we nonchalantly pass by a large number of seemingly passive and unknowing fellows inside of Gomorrah, we start building a boat by the side of the river to cross. We are attacked, chased down, and brutally abused. My character is meaningless, so I try to draw their attention away from my friends (to no avail because they are not idiots). My friend Paco is knocked out, but they forget about him while chasing after our other friend, and he manages to hearth alive and unmolested. Our friend though, after spending about a month on his character (terrible character by today's standards, 100 unarmed). Paco, my new character, and our other two friends gather everything on a wagon (I received a shiny bronze sword in pity) and set out on a long journey in the opposite direction for as long as we can travel. We settle down next to what is present-day Melsonia. At the time, they are barely developing and have barely finished their island palisade wall. http://sabinati.com/HavenMap/?x=-24.36&y=78.12&zoom=9
We learn all about combat and farming here. Me and Paco especially focus all our attention on combat. We get strong enough to where we go around murdering little noobs. It was my first experience being the tougher guy, and I got a huge adrenaline rush whenever I killed somebody. Paco is hesitant, and almost feels bad about it, but I have no remorse. One day I stumble upon another noob, but he has a boat. He gets in his boat, goes across the river, and hearths with it. I camp the spot looking at the kiln and boxes that were there. I am contacted by a few people on the other side of the river, who inform me of who they are, what they are, and their desire for friendship with me. I'm pretty sure I had the power to murder the entire village of Melsonia at that particular moment in time with the help of my friend Paco. Old Melsonians who were there are free to confirm or deny whether a 95 MC 10 UA poorly-geared average fighter could have done so, but anyways...
Eventually the two people we are living with find out about our little crusades, and they ask us to stop. We agree, but they take us off their claim (which spanned the whole village) (supposedly on accident), and Paco gets very suspicious. There is a lot of distrust among us, but that is completely irrelevant to how I died. I saw on the forums that you can drink water while you are swimming, and with 22 constitution I decide to try and cross a river. I drink immediately upon hitting the water, max my stam bar, stop drinking, don't realize it, and drown in the middle of the river. Paco quits. http://puu.sh/2lKEN
Paco (going to call him Ryan now) plays for like 2 weeks by himself, and his adventures are not going to be stated here, but he tells me that I should come play with him again, but this time it is with a powerful, developed village, and things are starting to get hardcore. I accept the offer. Here I learn what it really means to be a Hearthling. I'm going to be extremely brief in this section (relative to the rest of my post) because my fingers are starting to pain me (I'm writing this in one sitting).
Basically, I become relatively powerful in my time at Anor Londo. http://sabinati.com/HavenMap/?x=-102.94&y=5.95&zoom=9
I discover super top secret clandestine skills, sharpen my combat skills at Apples for Oranges, and get the best equipment our steel and pearls could buy. I do a lot of hard work to achieve all of this, including suffering through about a week trial period where I was worked like a slave, harvesting massive fields of crops and collecting forests of chopped trees into an organized pile in our village. I'm not complaining though, it made me a man, and it got me a position into the most prestigious position in our village - a member of the minehole, the secret underground fortress of Anor Londo. Everybody had to vote on who was let into the minehole, and I was beaten twice by a straw doll and a frog (bunch of trolls they were). Anyway, we raided every single village we could set our eyes on that didn't have a brick wall, just to exercise our newfound power. Dis got mad at us and stuff but I'm not going into any of that.
I made an entirely different thread about how it all ended, which can be found here: viewtopic.php?f=29&t=26930
