The Log Book Entry

Postby Caryl » Thu Mar 13, 2014 1:17 pm

Greetings! Fellow Hearthlings, I have started this thread to inform you of the happenings all around Haven and Hearth! My alt, Caryl the Alt-Traveller is going on an adventure! What he's in for? Who knows, maybe he'll meet his untimely death by the hands of raiders. Better yet, maybe he'll even be bear-chow. That matters not, as long as he still lives, he will journey H&H and keep marching forward! This just in:

Caryl the Alt-Traveller's Log 1: "The Ancient Sleepers"

Caryl the Alt-Traveller's Log 2: "The Ancient Sleepers Identity and a new Hearth-ling spotted!"

Image

As Caryl the Alt-Traveller was wandering south-wards, he stumbled upon a small settlement with a visible Hearth-ling sleeping safe and sound in his leanto. It appears he has had two visitors that came to his doorstep, one of whom is a member of the Ancient Sleeper's Community while the other is some bloke named Vulcan the Third (Vulcan III).

Caryl the Alt-Traveller's Log 3: "The Raider's Trail"

Travelling East, Caryl the Alt-Traveller has stumbled upon what seems to be a raided settlement. The ground was literally sullied by pools of dried blood, human blood it seems. Looking at it from my perspective, it appears a large battle took place here.

Caryl the Alt-Traveller's Log 4: "Hard-work! Sweat, Blood and Tears of days and months of tiresome labor reduced to ashes and bones in a mere seconds!"

Image

Stumbling on another village, an established one. Caryl the Alt-Traveller says a few words of prayer for the fallen souls that have been preyed upon and died defending what is theirs. Their corpses, displayed in a gruelsome manner by unruly raiders leaves people wondering if there are still any trustworthy Hearth-lings roaming these lands...

Caryl the Alt-Traveller's Log 5: "The Russian Raider became the victim"

Image

The Russian Home Owner of this tiny lot, dragged out of his home after his raid and was killed, maimed and displayed to passers-by as a warning to raiders who prey upon innocent folk. A tiny spark of hope appeared in Caryl the Alt-Traveller's eyes as he reads the message.

Caryl the Alt-Traveller's Log 6: "A Possible Ally/Enemy? Friend/Foe?"

Image

Moving far north from the battered and raided settlements, Caryl the Alt-Traveller found a lone sleeper soundly snoring in the confines of his small leanto. Caryl the Alt-Traveller will attempt to make contact and as such will end his Logs at Day 3. Tomorrow is another day!

It makes me very happy when I see logs of this kind. Keep up with the adventure, Caryl!

However, I do feel it detracts to have all that User Interface showing. If you were to hide all that, I feel it'd carry your narration in a sort of uninterrupted way.

Never settle, Caryl the Alt-Traveler! May Jorbtar's exasperated sighs carry like a leaf in the Hearthlands.

Cool idea. I dont like adventure logs though... I dont see it going very far. Heres a neat idea, you should go a progression log. continue to the Day 1, Day 2,.. format. and show us how far/fast you go from nothing to a palisade/brickwall settlement.

It's a Travellers log not a Settlers log ... that's what like ...

Caryl, carry on ... :)
