Since 1 month before the end of world 1....so I guess the answer is yeah, we're still running around our little corner of the world..lol And since you can see the tell-tale signs of local activity, and the occasional idiot low-iq, can't think of anything else to do griefer who has decided to commit suicide by leaving scents everywhere...I don't think you are alone..lmao

Many people still play this game and there is only one server, but the world is very large so you may not find other online people very often. The game isn't done in a month no. The devs are working on "haven 2" which will be released for alpha testing in a few months or so but the original haven will stay around for a long time.
Of another era.

I think the most important answer you'll get is that area chat is only heard by people you can see. Hence why no communication so far. The bottom of the home page will tell you how many people are in game. Currently more than there was, but not as many as there used to be. Running in to people is just going to depend if you spawned near anyones homes, but travel long enough and I don't doubt that you'll find someone They'll likely kill you though

Alternatively try The Dwarves and Thieves subforum To join up with pre-existing groups if they'll have you.

To answer your question, yes, people are still playing this game. You can find about ~200 people on at any given time.

Haven is not like other MMOs. The game does not intrinsically connect you with other players, it is your job to find them -- or hide from them. Area chat only appears to those immediately around you. If you cannot see anyone on the screen then no one can hear you. Your Kin list, otherwise known as a friend's list, will also tell you that you're alone in the world. Until you add friends to the game by meeting them or learning their hearth secret, this will remain the case.

There is only 1 server and it will not be ending any time soon. However the devs are working on the next big update but that probably won't be out this year. =)

Meeting people in-game can be dangerous due to the perma death nature of this game. If you bump into raiders or griefers they may just decide to skewer you for the fun of it. That's Haven. As such many choose to carefully pick their friends, as ninja yodeler said, it can be worthwhile meeting people through the forums to play with. That's not to say you can't meet wonderful people in-game too, it's just a gamble. The peaceful folk tend to like to hide and the raiders like to sweep the forests and rivers for prey. =)

Hope so, maybe they'll also run a classic server for those who wish to just play this one, (OR maybe sell the classic code to someone to run it as-is) 'cause, well, where version 2 is concerned, I have this feeling...lol Also, one can always check the first page, there's usually the player count at the bottom, usually 100's of people on at any given time...the world jsust is really that big..which Is how we like it.

Jorbtar will never sell haven, even old haven. Jorbtar did say they will run haven along side hafen when it's complete, but eventually haven will be phased out I would think. It's like comparing a stick to a baseball bat. You can still use a stick for baseball, but what's the point once you get a real bat?
Early world exploit: Put your hearthfire inside a cave, then hold shift to position a claim right in front of a cave. After 8 hours the claim will be unbreakable. Since your hearthfire is inside the cave, you can still get back inside, and leave, but nobody will be able to enter, effectively making you unraidable for the first 3-7 days. Enjoy

Really? Ya sure about the accuracy of that Analogy? Have you ever heard of a little game called SALEM? Perhaps a better one would be the diff between a Louisville Slugger and a Rawlings as opposed to a stick and a bat? You have any idea the annual sales of classic vid games ranging from Atari to Sega Genesis. Beauty, and fun, is in the eye of the beholder. We'll just have to see what actual changes are made between classic and Hafen before trying to critique their places In a comparison Analogy. 8-)

Haven looks ugly, lets not beat around the bush on that. The graphics hurt/burn/sear my eyes, and loftar said the code is messy, making it harder to change things.
