Obligatory Introductory Post

Postby El_Dewrito » Wed Feb 18, 2015 12:24 am

Hello! Some of the people I used to play Wurm Online with told me about this game awhile back. A couple days ago, I decided to try it on a whim. So far I have been having a ton of fun getting started. The Curiosities and FEP systems were a little confusing at first, but I quickly got the hang of them. I haven't run into any other players yet, but I hope that changes soon. If you have any tips and tricks for newer players, I'd be extremely glad to hear them.

The community here seems really helpful and lively, and I look forward to becoming a part of it and getting to meet some of you.

Make your #1 priority building a brick wall. Palisade walls are almost the same as fences at this stage in the world as they are trivially broken by hand (and therefore don't require a ram).

But that requires a lot of iron and steel, which I probably won't be getting anytime soon. Should I just build a palisade first?

Yes. Your best defense is to move as far into the wilds as you can and to settle near somewhere that doesn't have easy access by river. This'll keep most raiders out of your hair. A palisade keeps out most forms of trouble.

Another great tip is to talk to people that you meet and get to know your neighbors. You can usually convince most people to not murder you by politely greeting them and having a conversation. Be aware that everyone is scared and paranoid, so they'll act accordingly. You never know when someone is a thief or raider in disguise. =)

If you feel like you're far away from a brick wall, then feel free to build a palisade, but make sure you're not spending too much time on things that aren't contributing to a brick wall somehow. The longer you take, the more likely you are to wake up one morning to your settlement being plundered and razed to the ground.

What Ninijutsu said, plus, it can protect you from all hostile animals, and will discourage some nub raiders from attacking your base.

If your talking about the ONE time that I stole an LC, they where being ass-hats and trying to destroy my boat. And when I offered to return the LC, they got pissed and KOed me, calling me a "Russian Nab". So I emptied half their kilns and stole a boat. They chased, but because they kept spam clicking, I quickly shook them. Showed them for trying to kill me, oh well, I was able to put the two dead boars in the second boat to good use thou ¦]

And screwing around with MrGreen doesn't count. I never even got to keep any of the lwet!
But seriously, I just didn't want him to kill me. I never killed anyone either.

Also, look who's talkin'
