Just because you've told one or two people to not buy swimming doesn't mean that newbs are going to automatically know not to buy it. Get over people drowning and complaining, it's going to happen forever until death by swimming is somehow made less probable. Jesus.

I agree that dying from drowning is annoying; one has to check on the forum and search for information about it in order to know it's leathal.
It goes against all expectations that someone with 20 Con- which, for most games, is a very high value- would drown in seconds, or even that one can drown at all.
The fact that boats exist that can transport you at fantastic speed over water makes swimming obsolete, since it is much easier to build several boats than it is to make a character strong enough to swim.

That said, it is still annoying whenever someone posts about drowning. There should at least be a stickied thread titled "YOU DROWNED: POST HERE".
Surprise.

When you buy the skill it tells you it's dangerous. Anyone with half a brain would check the forum to see how dangerous it is.

If you parted a sea and tried to walk along the bottom, not only would chariots and horses not be able to race along the bottom, but people would not be able to walk along the bottom either, Waist high mud and silt.

Another story in the bible that disproves the bible
