Why are cows so ambitious about leaving their pen?

Postby Thurrok » Sat May 01, 2010 12:36 am

Because everytime I open the gate for... say, five seconds, a cow or sheep slips away and I have to catch it. It's annoying.

Also, how high is the poor female creatures' womb pressure if they can catapult their young OVER the fence, right away into STARVATION?

My livestock seem to have a somewhat opposing inclination; keep me in the pen. I'll come in to feed them and they all start clustering around the gates, body blocking me and generally being annoying. Fortunately they usually leave one or the other before long.

I'm also generally upset at how many males I get compared to actually useful females (and the females I do get are stunted wrecks with excellent hide quality and shitty everything else! especially milk quantity and/or quality), but I suppose that's a statistics thing. (Incidentally I've been pretty lucky with sheep).

The lack of a simple 'Pregnant? Y/N' notification bugs me too, though that can be worked around.

Palisade-vaulting babies are annoying but I fixed that with a specific enclosure for pregnant animals.

sabinati's remark reminds me, though this is only tangentially related, that chickens not being saved/persistent game objects sucks. A yard full of chickens wandering about seems so iconic it hurts.

It would also be hilarious to see threads about newbies getting their ass handed to them by feral, rabid cocks.

I want animals to be a bigger threat than people. I don't care if you have to make something in the same vein of the tree ents/spirits, I just want to be on the verge of death more often in the wild.

Well, how would you feel if someone caged you up and left you barely any room to walk and fed you variations of leftover seeds/materials to eat?.. and on top of that, killed your children(And in a lot of cases cook them in front of you!) & brought random males in to rape your mother....?
