Dwarf Fortress (game)

Postby VowOfSilence » Tue May 25, 2010 10:08 am

I keep hearing about this game on the internets - so, what is it all about?
Any features that would be nice to have in H&H?

I gave it a try recently, but was pretty disappointed when i figured it was actually a single player game.
I kept torturing myself with it for a while - Well, i guess can see why people like it (among other things, it's great to play if you're masocistic or want to feel like the most hardcore gamer ever).

Now we know. Thanks.

Edit: Oh, so this was asking about DF. I see. Anyway, it's something like running a H&H village with AI instead of other people, infinite gameplay differences aside.

Eh, pretty fun game I don't know about the whole 'most hardcore gamer ever' thing, although you will indeed get that vibe from people who just started playing and actually think it's that hard.

When you get past the learning curve (if you do rather) it's fun. Haven't touched DF2010 yet, wonder what changed, and if it's worth a looksie to stop playing HnH for a week or so to check out :s

Supposedly 2010 is a lot harder. I wouldn't know because no OpenGL/40d# merge yet to support linux =(

Imho, there are a magnitude of ideas from Dwarf Fortress that could slot in brilliantly in H&H. The dev's will probably not like hearing that though :D

Why not? Jorb is a fan and has admitted to already having done so.
