my wagon trek begins.

Postby joojoo1975 » Wed Jun 02, 2010 3:39 am

Day 1:

started at 1 pm and now it's 9:30 pm didnt find any minerals with prospecting. moving in a westerly direction. Came across 3 mountains, lost count after 6 caves, Tons of homesteads in various conditions. lost count on how many rivers I traversed with the raft, at least 15. and now have to log back in and figure out a way so my cow will not run away since i have him leashed to the wagon :(

build a roundpole or 'signpost' fence and block the cow in with the trough. Might want to keep some claim materials handy too.

Day 1(continued)

Ok after hearing that cow will R U N O F T

I built a lil roundpole fence and put in a trough, had to use some hay so i'll only have 1 beehive instead of 2 starting out. but no worries, i passed like 5+ abandened homesteads that were glistening with wheat, so tomorrow, i'll stop by one of the future ones and replenish my hay supplies and replant so the next suck-, uh. . . i mean pioneer walks through will have some wheat as well. I also made like 2 dreamcatchers to harvest dreams, and for now on, i'll have enough supplies to make a stakeclaim while i travel westward. Mr prepardness here always packed things in 2, so i had materials for 2 claimstakes, so now i have a lil area claimed, which covers my lil fence and wagon and Dreamcatchers.

hope tomorrow will find better tidings, as i'll not be able to spend 8+ hours tryin to find a mine.

Day 2:

Well got a late start(why was server down) and this time out, was truckin pretty good. since now i know i gotta make a temp settlement, everytime i log, i make me dreamcatchers and such b4 i log. Also along the way, i kill a boar or some rabbits to get the bones.

Nothin really remarkable, i came across Brohalla today. about 15 minutes later i see a runestone signed by DatOneGuy. still heading in a westerly direction. Bout an hour into it, came across a VAST area of Deforestation with nothin really to show for it :( well anyhoo bout an hour after that and numerous rivers i come across the village of Ironcliff. well knowing that this village will have the mines packed up, i continue my trek westward. came across some plot where most of his field was claimed, except prolly 3 or 4 rows of Wheat. Well m8, be happy to know my farm is 40 and i'm full nature. he now has 6 rows of wheat and my trough now has hay and seeds.

Man this is gettin long, i have no idea where i am(guessing northern grids) also wonderin when i'll get to a place not touched by people. so far i begin to think, that i'm in uncharted land and then i see a house, or cut trees, or something. Also the time is kinda blurrin together, and the constant "no minerals found" sign is becoming my worst best friend. i hope continiously moving in the same direction will net me a mine. just have a feeling i still gotta a LONG way b4 i get to a place not touched by people.

well we'll see what tomorrow brings.

You may want to check within caves as well as regions that are deep inland. You have a big advantage that you can travel the lands quicker than scouts that lug a boat over their head. You are also in a better position that animals will generally not bother you since you are considered being within an area that blocks the aggressive area of sight for boars and bears. Caves are particularly good place to search especially inland ones.
If you keep focusing on the shadow behind, you will not see the light in front of you.

Being successful isn't just about hard work and succeeding, it is also about picking yourself up when you fail.

caves are...bwäh
the point with the inland should be pretty good. you may concentrate on mountains...

You should really try to pinpoint the SG edges, lack of rivers will greatly improve your speed of travel!

Day 3:

Still no metal. I hope i'm not missing something. It's like hour 15 now and still no hits. I must had hit prospect over a 100 times(not hard to find rustroot, since my perception is like 25 and my exploration is 40, heck i was able to advance one of my skills from 70 to 71)

now i'm seeing less people. in the last hour, i saw evidence of like 1 peep. still lookin in caves and it's nill. Gettin to hate them fir trees, they so close together that many a time i had to jump off to take out a tree :(

still got hope, but it's beginning to slip. in my newbness towards the whole fininding a ming thing, i thought i would had found it in one day. Look like i have a lot to learn.

We'll see what tomorrow brings.
