I'm just curious if anyone has considered building a massive road by hiring a group of people in exchange for coins or something. Something stretching from Constantinople way out far. It'd do a lot of good for the game in general. People could set up trading posts or even Inns along the trail, it would make navigation to the major city simpler, you could have guards actively patrol it, players seeking the evil path could become high-way men and rob it, it would make travel by wagon a hell of a lot easier for major traders.
I don't see construction as that hard, you'd have 3 teams. One would be lumber jacks that would travel ahead and clear trees. plow men would follow behind and plow in a straight line about 5-8 tiles wide. Stone layers would follow behind them and of course lay stone.
Of course hills and rivers would get in the way but these would just have to be managed by turns in the road or leaving boats near the gaps.
