The Wiki Thread

Postby Erik_the_Blue » Fri Jul 17, 2009 10:19 am

I've finished seeding the 'skills' and 'objects' sections of the wiki, so it should prove somewhat more useful for those editors that like writing text but don't know wiki markup. There's also some content provided by Kinderjager, BlazeX, myself, and some anonymous editors, mostly trying to answer some of the "How do I produce X?" type of questions. Along with some miscellaneous information found in the 'getting started' section, the wiki might even be useful to some readers at this point. In any case, nearly every article needs to be fleshed out further, so hopefully some people here will see fit to do that. Here is a list of stub articles which could use such treatment, though all articles are open for editing.

This thread is for feedback, questions, etc. regarding the wiki.

Main page needs wiki link for newbies... It could fit next to the PAQ.

I am gonna try to edit some pages.
The ones who see things differently.

You can praise them, disagree with them, quote them, disbelieve them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can't do is ignore them.
And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius.

Nice job at the wiki, though you dont have the high hat listed...im not sure how to go about adding it onto the list though. (its like a brown cylinder hat, I found it on the ground but cant figure out how to make it...)

That hat is only available from the newbie chest, and is generated randomly. There is no way to make it outside of that.
I'm unsure of the details, but I'm pretty sure it does nothing in terms of skills/stats/damage reduction.
You see a masterful engraving by Blaze. On it is Blaze, bears, boars, and foxes. Blaze is striking down the bears. The boars are screaming. The foxes are in a fetal position. The image relates to the return of Blaze in the late winter of 2009.

I went ahead and made the article with the information Blaze provided. Thanks for letting us know something was missing.

For anyone wanting to create a new article:
1. Go to the main page of the wiki.
2. Look for the fourth section from the top (it reads "Contribute to this wiki").
3. Follow the single instruction therein.

Don't worry about formatting and stuff, just put the information in there however you'd like and someone will get around to applying the fancy stuff later. (Your article might not show up in the proper lists until then, so don't worry about that.)

I made a account and started to help out editing, I left the pages as stubbs as I did not fully get all the information needed. Ill help out more when I get the chance, I am going to take a short break from updating it. Feel free to re-edit the pages for organization. Good luck :D

I've started a new bugs page on which to document known bugs, particularly those that don't look like they'll be fixed anytime soon. The purpose is to inform players of problems they may encounter as well as any work-arounds. I've started it off with the tea/rennet/wort making bug.

It's also probably appropriate to list exploits here, under the notion "the more who exploit it, the more likely it is to be fixed".

The wiki is going to be in a greater state of flux than usual over the next few days or weeks. Semantic MediaWiki was recently activated for it, and I'm not too familiar with how it works. Unfortunately, by its nature it's not practical to practice with it in sandboxes, so I'm having to play around with the content pages themselves. I'll try to minimize damage after my heavy editing sessions, but inconsistencies between pages are likely to be noted, particularly by editors. Hopefully I can have the basic templates worked out in a week or two, at which point the wiki should act much smarter (in particular, I'm hoping it'll be able to generate the FEP table automatically from the food pages).
