I'm also on the side of liking the graphics. If you look at video games over the last few years, graphics development hasn't been about steady improvement as it was early on. Graphics are pretty good overall now so things have shifted to making things novel and unique. Think Paper Mario, Stick War and Desktop Tower Defense. These games could be done with more advanced/realistic graphics, but part of the appeal is that these games feel different and unique. I know that in my experience, Haven and Hearth is quite unique and I find it fitting that the graphics are as well.
I write all of this ignoring the grossness of the Creamy Cock of course.
