although, just because you have 64 bit os doesn't mean you have 64 bit java. i am running windows 7 64 bit but i use 32 bit java/client.

yeah. you need to set up some path variables or some shit which i don't recall exactly how to do but is mentioned somewhere in the main thread about it.

It would be hard to imagine that it would hurt, though. The larger register set on amd64 is something I imagine that Hotspot can use to increase performance quite noticeably.

Which won't do you much good if you're using 32-bit programs, of course. :)

You need to add PATH and CLASSPATCH somewhere under system. Look for "'java' is not recognized as a internal or external command" on youtube for some intructional vids.
