I think for the first time I actually agree with you at least to some degree. Your idea about making mines public isn't really appealing though. People should be able to hide their information if they want to. Mine decay is a possible solution or the ability to find built mines with rustroot.
But yeah mechanics that keep ressources available to newer players and also mechanics that give new players the option to catch up would be nicer than a mapreset every once in a while imo. What you would need above that is good lategame content and not just pushing your crops from q300 to q305 or raiding other towns because of boredom.

Alway a problem with intended endless games. (actually not a game related problem, but ok.)

Anyway. Personally I don't care one bit about the world being reset or not for whatever reason. Its Alpha/Beta/etc.
(people are way to obsessed in caring about losing that whats not even theres, instead of focusing on how (and better) to enjoin whats already there.)

[offtopic]
Just some (not to seriously) random game recycling thoughts.
- Character ageing. (and maybe character takeover/switching, might need some additional auto played management for kid characters.)
- Shifting world map. (slow adding and delete of outer grid rows, in some rotation type style. ... or based on the population density center. )
- Additional slow and fast world(terrain) altering events.
(Create a new topic (after searching the forum) for them if you like to give them a serious thumbs up or crack down.)

I understand the power of secrecy when it comes to H&H, hell I bet we both know at least a few people that have 'secret' mines walled off that they don't use, just for the sake of having them. My ideas are crude at best, I pretty much come up with them on the spot  My thought was that if there was some sort of large scale public world map displaying mines (Maybe through some higher end murder-esque type skill), H&H would become more like a large scale RTS-MMOish type setting. You obviously wouldn't be able to hide the fact that you have a mine (Or multiple mines) at all but it might spur more large scale confrontations for resources rather than the typical 'Noobs raiding noobs and end game villages raiding noobs.' And it would hopefully let all those people that have multiple unused mines have theirs liberated by dedicated newer players.

What do you mean by mine decay?
And I definitely see endgame content being an issue too. Currently all you can do is push for higher and higher combat capability, pushing you to want to use it against someone, eventually turning into raiding/bullying of weaker/newer players. I guess you could also try to set up some sort of political government and expand across the map, but the village scene seems to be more predominant.

I'd rather just have characters shit gold bricks instead of having an official map of the world.

no, no there should be a world map available to everyone, it should also show quality spots, that way nobody needs to do any exploring, they can all just go right to the best q spots (obviously those spots should be made infinite again)! it should also show villages and claims, and especially the valuable objects within them, preferably in some sort of list format. also, character stat sheets should be public so i know who to attack and not attack. also, everyone should fellate me constantly,

Now shush

. Brick wall your place. No palisades don't cut it; people can break them for fun now and there is no turning back from it more and more will be able to do it. Drop anything not related to a brick wall and do it. Trade, beg threaten humiliate yourself for enough wrought and steel and just do it. One gate is enough and just design your wall to have least amount of corner posts. It might end up looking ugly but who gives a fuck at least you are safer.

Did you even read what i posted...
