To some degree, I agree, but on the other hand I appreciate such localized forms of personal names as can be seen in "William, Wilhelm, Vilhelm, Guglielmo", "Olav, Olof, Leif, Ola, Olaus", "George, Georgos, Gregory, Göran" or "Karl, Carol, Charles, Carolus"; and it seems those variants wouldn't have arisen if one were too conservative with the original names.

As for me and Jorb, they are random variations of our real names, which Jorb came up with back in high school as divinities for a web-based strategy game that we were talking about at that time. We just reused them for Haven.

ADOM as in, Ancient Domains Of Mystery? that was a good game. I used to play the shit out of it. A troll farmer usually what I played.

Yeah, me too. There was one part of the game that killed a decent amount of my high-level characters...and when I finally got past it, what I found was pure awesomeness, and a sinister librarian named "Niltrias"

So Ive been using it ever since. That is also why all the runestones I leave around say stuff like "A sinister tannery" or "A sinister island" or "I saw a sinister frog here"

i use juhubert ever since i got on the net, it was my first chars name on a online game ever - ultima online it was then. ever since then i used it on online games and forums.

the name is an hommage to a friend of mine, we used to call juhubert. it is short for hubert, his first name and juhu - a sound of joy in my language. we used that name on him, since he always partied and got wasted when around. hell, the guy even had some chests of beer hidden behind trees in his family forest then. i only once did firewood with him

In X3: Reunion, my home sector was called Thuruk's Beard. It was pretty much in the middle of the universe and had the shortest trade routes to everywhere, so I built my base and e-cell complex there. I had forgotten this name and remembered it again, in a slightly wrong way, when registering here.

Recently, I have also noticed that it contains HURR. Which, quite frankly, is an awesome feat for a mis-remembered name.

Needed a new username as it's not good to use the same one on all sites.
The song "The Wicker Man" by Iron Maiden + a random number = wickerman_156 :D

My in-game name "Archess" I stole from a friend of mine in WoW who was a lvl 29 paladin, and we used to play battlegrounds as twinks together. :)

Huh, Göran is George? I always thought it's a name loaned from Slavic languages. Here Goran is pretty common, and it has nothing to do with George, it's derived from gora (mountain) and could roughly be translated as Highlander I guess. George is Juraj over here (but Dzordze in Serbia).

Anyway, I don't see anything wrong with localizing international names when naming children, but I find it disgusting when people translate names of specific persons (like if I translated George Bush as Juraj Grm).

My name is actually a combination of a buddy's online name (Archi) and a nickname I've had since early days of my online/gaming "career". I just decided to do a slight change of pace in H&H because I was tired of making references to my characters from other online games.

I got this username for pretending I was a lonesome noob, when taking revenge on a keystealing shitbag.
It worked pretty well, he invited me to his new camp and I got there with my main within 10 minutes :) =

I read Dune when I was young and idea of human computers - mentats seems very cool. I used just Mentat as nickname for long time, but since others started to use it too I recently switch to Gilbertus Albans - first mentat.

"zirikana" is from one of the Rwandan languages meaning roughly "commitment to the village" or "esprit de corps". It's the name of one of the best single origin coffees i've ever bought.

My in-game main is "Abimelech" (an old warcraft name of mine). . . basically i just wanted a bad-ass sounding biblical name. The real Abimelech (the son of the judge GIdeon i think) was an absolutely terrible person, so, um... yeah.
