If there was no perma death, you wouldn't be able to build a beehive without 500 stats dude dropping by, killing you and destroying it. Seriously.

I guess people would just set a goal for their stats, get the best items, and then get bored and quit. Raids would basically just be stealing high quality items from another group, but the people that were victims would probably just rebuild in a matter of days.

Politics are pretty much what make this game interesting, as well as a genuine fear of the wilderness in the early stage of gameplay. People would no longer depend on each other as much, and PvP would degenerate to the typical clan spirit found in other MMOs.

Clans are street gangs that can't murder each other and substitute their killings with shittier attitudes.

For example, you would have the Pumpkin Head Pwners be an actual, substantial faction.

On a similar topic: What would the game be like, hypothetically, if alts were not allowed?

A no-alt policy would be very interesting.

A no-alt policy would make me quit this game.

A no-alt policy would be unenforceable.
