The point is, people can kill you almost as easily as they can take your stuff. You may not be into random PK, but your advice that the OP's character development could not be stolen was nonsense, and I can easily imagine some other player, with a different agenda to yours, saying exactly what you said, but in reverse, after killing the OP 'because his defences were inadequate".

Kobnach,
Sometimes you have to make choices, and you always have to live with the consequences of them. If you're worried that your character would be "stolen," then go full tradition. A lot of us are here in this game because our actions have consequences; it makes things interesting. Your friend laid his work down on the altar of another's god and thus curried no favor. Choices. Consequences. The easiest thing to do is make decisions without thinking, and inevitably, the hardest thing to do is to live with them. I believe that is the case. Please move on. Exash has moved on, I've moved on, and you're probably just making griefers salivate over your emotionally infused stubborness on this issue.

You don't want people continually reminded that you are a thief? Could it be that you are afraid that some stranger will kill you on sight, just based on your character name alone, if I keep reminding everyone of the choices you have made?
