Nay. Also nay to the saw.

The fishing pole does make no sense though since you don't start with fishing.

No manual, you just jump in dawg, that's the way it's supposed to be.

I think starting with some wheat seeds instead of the bread would be good, it was done like that with great success in Robinson Crusoe.

Agreed. Every say aye?

Is there a post limit, or can I just copy-and-paste "Aye" over and over until there's too much to fit on the Interwebz?

He also salvaged quite a lot of stuff from a shipwreck, including precious metal tools. Some noobs are so lucky.

Seeds are same, like fishing pole. U cant use it, until you learn fishing/farming.

In old days, when i was playing Ultima Online your characters ahve dagger, some money and candle. That was all.

In this case, bread is ok, clothes ok. Thats all you need. Some basic tools can be made without any skill or any item for making it.

i guess the benefit to having a q10 fishing pole is that you can learn fishing easily (200 LP) but to make a q10 fishing pole you'd need 10 survival (5400 LP). of course the taproots and lures and hooks you get will be q5 anyway if you don't invest in survival, meaning your overall equipment quality is only improved by 1 for having q10 pole instead of q5.

There is a difference between seeds and fishing poles. Fishing poles can be easily made immediately after you get fishing, while once you get farming you have to go find wild seeds or find an abandoned claim, both of which aren't very fun at all. However, starting with seeds makes it a bit too easy, and I agree that the fishing pole should be ditched.

I think we get a fishing pole because of Lao Tzu's - "Give a Man a Fish, Feed Him For a Day. Give Man a Fishing Pole, Feed Him For a Lifetime". That's translated from Polish version, In English-speaking world this quotation is slightly different. I found a Swedish version which is similar to Polish one.

BTW for Polish speaking people - try to translate this with google translator:
"Om du ger en man en fisk kan du stilla hans hunger. Om du ger honom ett nät kan han fiska när han vill"
The result is like:
"If you give a man a fish, you can satisfy his hunger. If you give him the Internet, he can go fishing when he wants"
