You may want to make a search in the forum on the best way to gain LP.

It boils down to two things that are most effective:
1. Farming
2. Hunting

Both will grant you LP as well as something to increase your FEP stats as well.

PS: Macroing is several times slower than manually gaining LP so you will fall behind if you just macro.

What do you mean by win? Your question was asking how they get good in such a short amount of time, you never mentioned anything about winning something.

The fact is, players who are "good" as you put it, are good because they worked at it. They spent the time working up the quality of their items by themselves or with a village, they went out and spent hours hunting for mines, or resource nodes and then they hunted, or farmed, or did whatever else to grind up as much LP as possible and raise their skills and stats.

No one was instantly a good player. It takes time and dedication, and sitting at your computer crying because you don't have the items they worked for is only a waste of your own time.

Some are macroers(Although some like to strongly debate that they're not.), others have been playing since DAY 1 of the world "reset" non-stop. If I had kept playing as long as some of them my character would be pretty monstrous right now.
