Islands don't really seem secret to me. I think I've seen them mentioned before. Maybe there's some kind of special deep ocean resource? Or island only resource. Thinking about islands really ruins my plans of living at a U shaped mountain and calling it Helms Deep though.

If the starting point was an island, that could help with the destruction caused by waves of new players.

And have the added hilarity of people drowning like Oregon-bound settlers fording a river.

Well from just Loftar's post, I've already got several ideas.
Deepsea fishing, maybe involving some kind of net, and an advancement for fishing skill.
More terrain specific beasts for us to hunt: Deserts could have coyotes and the like, swamps could have Crocodiles, maybe even snakes. The deep waters could even have...sharks? ..Maybe a Plesiosaur?

Should go without saying but, a larger variety of fish, and the likelihood of catching certain kinds depends on your skillset/stats?

Island only resources: Palm trees, which you can gather leaves from for...other purposes, along with bark I suppose.
Coconuts? A seining ability, possibly an ability which allows you to dig for shellfish?

An advanced mechanic's ability, which would allow one to build a bridge, maybe even a toll bridge, once the game is fully settled and a coin based economy is set within the player base?
(This would also allow the building of a dock, since pushing a boat off of a beach would probably require more time and stamina, the amount would vary depending on how far from the water the boat is.)

...I really need to stop.

Figured I'd post here rather than start a new thread.

So it's been said that the new world map is roughly three dev sessions away, and let's all keep in mind that this is an estimate, so take it with a rock salt boulder.
If we assume that there's one dev meeting each weekend, then that'll put the change over around the first of September.

That's what I'll be planning on for the Ragnarok party, but I may be wrong.
Surprise.

Usually two session per week, but, yeah... salt is advised :)
