The first scenario probably won't happen unless someone is extremely skilled and confident of their ability to not kill me. However I would like to contact them. Someone that can hold back their punches in the face of possible death and win definite deserves my respect. For the latter, avoid him like a freaking plague.

(note this is if I take the role of a raider which I am not doing)

See how good they are at tactics and stats and see if I can take one out. Also call for back up while fighting. If I know I won't be able to win, flee and call for back up.

Depends on what the mine has and if it has any natural resources nearby. Valuable one is added to my collections. Not so valuable may be kept to give away to someone or ditched

I hide as well and attack him when he does.

If I am arsed to track something with a loss of something insiginificant:
Track it. Summon the thief. Memorize him and KO while leaving a runestone or letter to advise not to steal. If they are behind a brick wall, memorize personal claim if it is there and take note.
If you keep focusing on the shadow behind, you will not see the light in front of you.

Being successful isn't just about hard work and succeeding, it is also about picking yourself up when you fail.

1. Get his name with my tail between my legs, find a way to repay him for being so foolish. If he had killed me, I'd have definitely learnt a lesson in underestimating possible noobs.

2. I fight. If I am a worthy combatant and I've got the skills that give me a fair chance to defeat these chance-stealers then I will fight with the ferocity of a man influenced by wealth.

3. Leave the village alone. Abandoned mines = trouble, according to forum stories.

4. People who do not know that the criminal is a criminal may see the story the other way around. Perhaps the criminal strips to wooden clogs and linen clothes and disarms themselves. What do the village people nearby see? They see me, the weapon wielding noob killer, charging towards a noob who may shout "Help!" when I sniff them out of their hiding place. What if the village responds in defending the 'noob'? What if I am taken as a potential murderer and I am set upon by the never-the-wiser villagers? I would lay low, assuming the culprit is hiding without having seen me but is hiding in wait for an attack on one of the villagers, and I'd spring upon the criminal once they've exposed themselves as a threat to the nearby villagers. A story can change within a second's glance, and I may as well wait for the chance to strike whilst the iron is burnt.

5. A snowball, insignificant, if left to roll down a hill, will become a major problem as it grows. I would track the thief, scare the shit out of him by summoning him, but then leaving a runestone warning against his actions. I've stole in real life, and I got a warning. Never, again.

I wouldn't charge in the first place, but if this were to happen, I would apologize and thank him for sparing me. Then I would trade with him. Which is what I really would have done from the start, anyways.

On this map, I don't really need mines, so I would probably offer to help them out getting their mines protected. On a new map, I hate to say it, but I would probably order them to leave and kill them if they did not.

Make a mental note. Survey the area to see what other useful resources are there. Then I would tell some newbies about the site and help them de/re-claim it.

Get shot in the head and die.

Yep. If they were apologetic, I would let them keep it in exchange for a loq ransom payment. If they were belligerent, I'd kill them.
