I read trough these mangas of yours, but there's no porn in any of them.

Why?

I'd say it has the old romantic point of view of English travelers of that age (oh, the exotic countries, the clean air). At some point they talk of a "savage" tribe that killed a woman by beating her, but that's it, nothing harsh is shown. Even a fight with "bad guys" is all about not trying to kill anyone on both sides. Plus the family is clearly rich, and is like all women are happy for working hard like slaves, while I've yet to see a man working.

Yeah but... this is not actually that sort of thing which i was asking about, this is still the choice of the author how to show the characters, the plot doesn't matter here.

Plus the family is clearly rich, and is like all women are happy for working hard like slaves, while I've yet to see a man working.

Yep. Haven't you noticed how similar it may be to some relatives of yours? I just can compare it to some of my kin, you know, and people are really pretty much happy of working like slaves, there's nothing wrong with it... about the men, yeah, that's pretty funny  There still was some old carpenter, and actually in families like this men usually work outside of the household. Actually, it surprised me a bit how much does this stuff similar to these old-fashioned Ukrainian families which i have seen. But anyway... i understand that this thing makes the mange being pretty cute, but it looks still a bit wrong for me.

This is all about this good old dispute about what is better - realism or romanticism. I feel somehow surprised and... this manga looks not very natural for me as i mentioned already. So i just want to know what do other people think about it. Like...for example, what do you think of this story?

Main idea of the quote - this is your fault that i killed you, not mine.

Usually, I get tired of reading cliché manga after the first 20 pages or so and close it with disgust.

However. This Vinland Saga is quite different, in my opinion. It's a damn good read!

Shame about the cliché "cute and moody" main character, though. Sigh.

No seriously, I'm happy Thorfinn isn't getting all the attention, while Askeladd gets more interesting.

I've been reading this comic constantly since this morning. It's sucking me right in... It's so, so, so much alike to my favourite video game of all time, Suikoden. Kinda.

In any case. Currently at #46, page 20. :)

Finished it..! Took me 15 hours, but I finished it, damn you.

Damn good read, bravo. I'd pay to watch that as a film.
