For like, 3 days, until a clear main map emerges, and I'll put that as default.

It looks okay, yeah, although it's slower for me than my own local map, but that's obviously because my machine is sitting next to me on my desktop

Also, as mvgulik said:

seems the uploader gets to about 3-4% and then has an error or something and quits having an issue trying to print screen the error to see what it says...
"Traceback (most recent call last):
File "(string)", line 230, in (module)
NameError: name 'img' is not defined"
those are the last 3 lines that appear in the uploader before it closes...
Ah, yes, I see the problem. My fault (mainly), sorry. When an image is broken (only downloaded half or whatever), my uploader is supposed to ignore it and move on. But in the ignoring I used the wrong variable, making it crash there instead of continue. Grab a new version which should work here:

I think that gathering information about the history of the game can be quite an advantage, especially for newer players. It's also helpful when you can look up a map and easily view the names of the different villages in order to get a general idea of the political environment in order to avoid confusions later on (such as thinking so-and-so village was raided in world 3 when it was really raided in world 2).
Right, makes sense. To be fully comprehensive though, one would still want to take out the mismatch, and add everything that was uploaded afterwards, like Gotrek64's new SGs.
I can do a few things:
- Put up the map as it has been for the last month, at a different URL.
- Share the map data, with the uploader usernames removed. Combined with the source for the matcher, anyone could complete the map. It's 10 GB though. I could just host it, but if more than ~15 people are going to download it, I might get into trouble. Both megaupload and mediafire don't support such large files. Perhaps I could turn it into a torrent or something.. not sure how that works.
mvgulik wrote:Just a general idea. A full final map of world 3 could be dropped into one of those image-zoom sited. (but that has some limitations of course.)
(I see what I might can do from here with the available data I have.)
I have no problem with hosting it myself, really. I'll just drop it somewhere right now and edit the link in in a minute.

Someone save it! =P
Also agree we should have a map with grid system & village names, alg's is good, except it has no grids, and no tags.
The village names are a pain. They were manual in world 3, and I couldn't come up with a good automated system...
