just started the game three days ago and I've died several times since then. It sucks to have so much of the skill points taken away..and before the server crash tonight I was killed by a bear that started off-screen aggro on me..no where near a river to run to and killed me. Then as I tried to get my body back...a boar killed me.

So now I have barely no skills and a decent sized little place carved out with only like 20% of the skills required to use my stuff. I don't think it's very fair to take THAT much from a person after they spend hours upon hours at the game.

In essence..this game rewards people who clear-cut grind and not those who explore. Looking for seeds is what got me killed!

jeez- you don't need to play all day to survive...
you just need to not be a dumbass, or not care about dying.

I just think the penalty is rather rough. Considering how much I played and ventured to get the stuff I had on myself to begin with...it does suck.

But with that in mind...perhaps specialization in an area would work out best? Since I keep adventuring perhaps I should only focus on upping combat skills....

up combat skills, always.
get enough UA/melee to block some hits from a bear, or jsut use a fucking custom client with a higher resolution and x-ray.

And do you think this game would even play REMOTELY the same if we lowered death penalties? politics would be boring, everything would be less nuanced because people wouldn't care as much.

I'd rather see an increase of death penalties, get rid of the inheritage of personal beliefs and a certain percentage of lp.

I died a few times as well.

First time a boar tore me to pieces. Second time i drowned because i figured i could swim 4 feet from the shore.

Learned my lesson from that lol.

Almost died today to ants. Makes me chuckle just thinking about it..
