I think animal scarcity is a good thing. Too many bears/boars/aurochs make it too easy for people to grind stats.

I have seen deer with varying levels, and trolls also have different levels.

I am pretty sure animals have a max level now; A fox cant be above 4, boar cant be above 7 etc.

They have max levels. People started assuming they don't have levels at all because of this since there were no village claims around to lower the local animal levels.
