As someone living in the NW can I dispel this rumour please.

In fact i'd wager unless your capable of getting a palisade up in 2 days minimum then the north west is not for you. A lot of good peaceful people have been killed up here for no reason at all.

Saying that the NW is safe and empty is like saying that if you pet a bear, they give you candy.

Russian Bears

We have Russians, but its unclear exactly how much they are involved. Had a few bucket griefers with the obligatory Russian runestone (the guy who proclaimed 'this will be a territory of new Russia' then was killed by a bear whilst bucket macro grinding is a personal fave) but the one sizeable group of Russians I met in the North west were standoffish if pleasant and we've experienced no hostility as of yet from them or anyone else (we were some of the first to the area and we got our palisade up in a rush).

Make no mistake however we are the lucky ones, and as survivors in a region who try to make a point of trading/communicating/co-existing with everyone around we get fed a daily diet of scary stories from survivors of raids and when suddenly a group of 3-4 we got on with suddenly have a several day communication black out and we find a settlement full of corpses... well. It paints a picture. I've maybe met 40 people coming into our little area (say 30 mins sail in each direction) by my last estimate maybe 10 people have survived.

I've also heard rumours of an A.D presence in the area.

Heh i have exactly the same story. While being a hermit i had no problems communicating with others and i was never attacked, although, i try to be extremely cautious. Still my friends keep disappearing and new corpses constantly appear lying all around. But my home is still intact.

Maybe the secret is that i'm a Russian by myself, it gives me some immunity or something :?

Main idea of the quote - this is your fault that i killed you, not mine.

I don't know just writing in Cyrillic script would be enough to get some people to attack you.

I've had no trouble with the russians up here, if anything they have been more than helpful.

Although i've also noticed corpses everywhere, how those people met their fate i have no idea.

Early world exploit: Put your hearthfire inside a cave, then hold shift to position a claim right in front of a cave. After 8 hours the claim will be unbreakable. Since your hearthfire is inside the cave, you can still get back inside, and leave, but nobody will be able to enter, effectively making you unraidable for the first 3-7 days. Enjoy
