I believe this is the right answer. Honestly, why craft an awesome game off of a knockoff of itself?

yeah.... no.
In minecraft zombies or other monsters are not scary nor are really necessary to avoid. #1: they only come at night. #2: you dig a hole and you won't have to worry ever.
It's not scary at all nor is it seriously survival. Minecraft is sandbox building and will never be anything more then that to me and a lot of other people.

you have apparently not played on a no-rules SMP server, no?
it's brutal.

I sincerily doubt they'd be much scarier here. Bear wrestlers/palisades/impenetrable mine-fortresses/rivers nothwithstanding... A implacable monstrosity is only scary if yannow, you can't easily avoid it, can't defeat it, or happens only rarely enough so you don't become jaded.

Due note in the original statement that i said "If modified" meaning it's not bears we are wrestling, it's not palisades we are building, and it's not impenetrable mine-fortresses we are yawning about. For one you could probably bet on an infection chance(instant death or worse your spawn point(hearth fire) would become a zombie spawn point instead). Palisades or other walls of defense would probably be assaulted daily by zombies zombies ranging from ants to foxes and would probably go to the resi evil or L4D zombie school for extra difficulty, and impenetrable fortresses would turn into death traps. Think survival then amp it up. Think everything wants to kill you, even players, and they all have good reason to too.
Also rivers would just be replaced by streets. Think Zombie Apocalypse survival horror sandbox. Not, haven and hearth with zombies. and definitely not minecraft.

i know in this game the people are the worst fear and the most likely to kill you but it's a little hard for me to imagine that minecraft gets any more difficult because of others seeing how the only wall your seriously able to hit is the bottom and the top. I never played them so i don't know im just making an assumption that people wont travel for days just to track you down and kill you... again when theres a lot more stuff to do.
Wait wait, i can't in all consciousness say that when i've played this game for more then an hour...

For those still interested in this: http://undeadlabs.com/2011/06/news/no-world-order/ I might have to buy a 360 just for this game...shame it isn't on pc
