I know what you mean, I've just started hermitage again after being a hermit last world, having joined a failvillage to begin with, moving out with a friend, then not being able to stand her after a month or so.

Hermitage is harder, sure. but I'm finding it a lot more rewarding not being told: YOU CAN'T DO THIS, YOU CAN'T DO THAT. THAT'S NOT YOURS TO TOUCH. HOW DARE YOU TAKE THIS I HAD PLANS FOR IT. WHAT ARE YOU DOING WITH THAT? WHY ARE YOU BUILDING THAT THERE?
(despite me having been the LS & then chieftain when I drowned myself and left the game, but came back because I was begged to.)

you get a lot more freedom. and everything you do feels like an accomplishment.

It's probably not a good idea to air out your dirty laundry too much, Kipper. Makes you look butthurt.

Anyway, I would like to echo burgingham's sentiments and say that the bonds you forge should be nurtured and taken seriously if they have value to you.

It's smartest to consider everything else almost transient. You're going to rise and fall, I think, it's only inevitable if you keep playing.

Kaios wrote:Your issue doesn't really seem like you take the game "too seriously" but rather you are having fun right now and have created a routine you enjoy. Your idiot friends are going to ruin it and I don't think anyone would like that situation.

That being said, no one likes working hard at something and then having a couple of dickwads running around attracting too much negative attention. They think of it simply as a game to screw around on, you and your friend on the other hand have actually dedicated time and effort and don't want to see your work ruined.

hmmmmm lets use mineville for example...

This is a game indeed, but social interactions built in it are not very different from those arising irl.

Heh. I really don't care about if I come off as butthurt. it is rather annoying it got to this stage and I'm venting.
anyway, not like I'm best friends with anyone on the community :P I can easily shrug off anything anyone may throw at me, but sure. good point.

Are you saying I don't have fun? I have loads of fun haha. This game is awesome, but it's meant to be played somewhat seriously. If you're doing what my friends did then you're pretty much playing the game wrong. Sure there having fun, but in my mind it's a stupid, immature, annoying type of fun.

No, I'm saying your friends decided to have fun. They didn't want to farm and craft, so they went killing and causing trouble within a video game which is their way of having fun.

I didn't know there was a wrong type of fun to be had and I could play this game incorrectly. If you could point out the page on this site that tells me that farming and crafting are the only ways to have the "right" type of fun, I'd really appreciate it.

Sounds like you're friends with wrong people. I'd ditch them.

I think this is why I'm destined to be a hermit. I'm way too anal retentive about my claim layout and where items are stored and placed and all that shit. It's more like a city planning game to me than a role playing game.
