I quickly realized, that, if i wanted to meet prosper towns, lovely hermits, and the occasional not so friendly thief, i would have to wait for the world to develop, and to train enough to defend myself.
The things im wondering about, and i would like for older players to share their thoughts and stories, is how long should i wait for the world to be developed enough that great cities develop and are willing to welcome a traveler (maybe by making a thread on the forums before), yet the world is still dangerous enough to be interesting. I want to hear(read in the chat) tales of war (righteous or economic), of Vigilante Ranges and Robin Hood thief (and i really hope there is someone like that out there), but not after the world is settled and divided by the great villages, but i want to see the world while that happens.
Also, has anyone done this before? If they did and there is a thread, direct it here please, and if they didn't, just write the story.

Bring tales of past worlds, of travelers welcomed by both enemy villages, tales that bring humanity to both conflicting sides.

You can go around now, you'll find quite the interesting stories and villages especially since it is a much smaller world now. Personally, I would wait till you have at least 45 MM, 30 UA/MC and all the black skills. The black skills are only needed if you're about to starve and you need to steal by necessity.

Regarding roleplay, i hate it when its forced, but this game gives me the feeling that roleplaying is natural, because you are creating a person, and choosing how he will live and interact with the world. You are forced to roleplay because you have a role in the world, be it a lonely farmer, or the leader of a great village. You are not just hacking monsters to gain more exp and become the king of nerds.
Also, since i have already developed a decent character, and im sure 25 UA/ML would be very low against most bandits.

There is definitly plenty of stories to be had already, the world's been around for a while and my personal favorite experiance n two world happened within the first week of this one. Your major problems are going to be people killing you, but if you put all your LP into UA so you can defend yourself/kill bear (at least boars), you can trade for the rest.
Today is a good day to die.

lol, brilliant idea, leaving scents while having your hf unprotected because you live in a wagon. good luck explaining that you had to steal by necessity

It sounds great on paper (or forum) but in reality I think this would get you killed rather quick :(

I remember a thread a while back about a group of people who wanted to caravan around the world in wagons and visit villages and trade and things like that. An ambitious goal, but an incredibly difficult one as well. It'd take several checkpoints where they could store their wagons in safety while they were logged, as well as a significant security detail. Cool idea, though.

The idea of traveling the Hearthland and visiting people is made significantly easier with a small amount of luck and a fair share of being friendly with the people you encounter.

Several times throughout my wandering, I've come across caves that led directly into someone's personal claim and suffered only a pleasant half-hour conversation with the owner for it. Other times, while being pursued by a bear, I've had to trespass into someone's home to save my skin. The end result of that was a trade with the person who was inside at the time, making Roasted Fish, which earned me a quality 20 Ranger's Cape in exchange for a quality 90 Bear Cape that I'd gotten for bringing news of Stin to someone who had an extra one laying around.

Sometimes, a bit of trust and conversation can turn a potentially deadly encounter into a good time with people who are usually just as worried about getting killed by some stranger as you are. Sometimes, you'll get burned for your efforts. In the end, it's not about what you have at the end of your journey or whether it's forcibly ended by a paranoiac with a sword.

It's about what you did while you were on the journey itself.
